Howdy from Texas, I am new here. I am Woodie Greene and I run the Mogollon Railway, a 1:35 scale 2 foot gauge line. Actually, 35n2 is just On30 on steroids. If there is any interest, I will post some pictures here. I have several threads on freerails.com now if you would like to check them out.
Welcome, Woodie! A perfect example of why the world of narrow gauge is so attractive. The fun with whimsical modeling brings a smile very easily. If you'd care to post more photos, that would be great! Boxcab E50
That headlight is impressive. People could not say they failed to see that coming down the track. Boxcab E50
Welcome to Trainboard. Good to see some new blood on the "board". By all means, keep the pics coming. PS: Glad you got the login thing resolved.
Garratt #4 was built from 2 IHC HO Dockside locos. I replaced the motors with instrument motors and new motor mounts. The loco was built from brass, styrene, and some PSC O scale parts. She has a Kyosho r/c board in the boiler and a 7.4 volt li-poly battery under the frame. This loco is fun to watch with the valve gear working and will pull a nice train up some heavy grades. #4 was modeled after the first Garratt-K1-which is still running in Wales. This is what an "Americanized" Garrett might have looked like..On the Mogollon Railway, this is the "big power". Woodie
The preserved Garratt in Wales in exactly what came into mind, when I saw your lokey. Looks like a real stump puller! Boxcab E50
That's a really cool trestle! It's fascinating how you can so completely create a atmosphere and then capture it with photos. Thanks for the eye candy! Take Care, Greg
The funny thing is that the model trestle has lasted longer than the real one did. This is a copy of the Silver City, Pinos Altos, & Mogollon RR trestle at MP9..it only was in use for maybe 3 or 4 years. There is just one known photo of it, but plans by Mr. Garrie Tufford were in an old Light Iron Digest magazine which made a model easy to do. The prototype was about 300 feet long, mine is about 280 1:35 scale feet. Thanks for the interest. Woodie
Woodie- Do you remember which issue of LID? I have them all, so can take a look next week when I get home. Hmmm. I guess LID isn't publishing any more. Haven't seen an issue in ages. Boxcab E50
I will try to find that LID issue...seems that it was about 2003 or so...I think the magazine suffered from lack of articles, but then the publisher gave a year's subscription for an article. I think I still have 5 or so years left! Ha! Woodie
