    Wow! I've gotta say that I had absolutely no idea when I posted what I thought was an ok SP photo from my layout, that this thread would still be alive and well 16 months later, 43 pages long with 419 replies! :) :) !!!

    I think it is a reflection of the strong passion that so many of us feel for the mighty Espee. Long live the scarlet and gray, and keep the pictures coming!!

    Both of these units have the yellow utility unit (air conditioning) door.

    Also, notice the rust along the top edge of SP100. Maybe some overheating problem? For myself, that would be a good detail to model.

    Gotta agree with you Dave, the SP was and is a much loved railroad.

    Just looked back through the thread - what an amazing collection of photographs - real and model! And there are even several clean SP diesels! :D
