Back in May of 2007, I was just driving along minding my own business, stopped at a traffic light and when I looked up. Wow a train. Does not take much to entertain me.
Another old GE smoking up the joint. Used to view them as unremarkable background for all the flashy new wide nose six axle stuff to parade in front of. Now I kind of miss them. July 7, 2007.
No fanfare or farewells that I can recall. This was part of an old abandoned industrial spur (serving the once and now also gone NCR complex) in Dayton. After abandonment, it spanned S Patterson Blvd at Stewart St (sans trackage) but could not survive "progress" as hydraulic hammers did the deed. Only photos and memories from old timers would tell future generations that a railroad was ever here (the area is undergoing changes that even erase NCR's former massive footprint).
