One thing that we've heard throughout the special run process going on now is that a lot of people wanted a TrainBoard car. I prefer the prototype fallen flag stuff but a TrainBoard car would be cool too. So, we've got a good idea. It's not just taking a boxcar and slapping the TrainBoard logo in it. It's something fun and creative and would be a conversation starter on your layout. The run would be 300 and again, from Micro-Trains. Oh, not a boxcar by the way. The cost would be in the same range as the MI boxcar but maybe 2 to 3 dollars more as the car would cost us that much more based on a preliminary estimate from Micro-Trains. We are not going to move on this until Special Run #1 is done, or down to just a handful of cars left. I do expect the MI boxcars to sell out in a month or so. What we will do is take numbers. if those numbers get up to 150 or so, we know people are going to be serious and we will start to plan for it. I'm #1. Please take a number if you are interested. Charlie
I'll take #4 & #5 - how much extra would it cost to have 2 road #s printed - just curious. Also, I've seen cars with a fallen flag logo on one end and the club/organization on the other. I just picked up a yellow reefer with Wabash and MoPac sharing space with the American Refrigerator Transit Co. - looks pretty cool.
I'm in. I wouldn't mine there being some kind of contest to vote on what the graphics on the car should be. What about a billboard? Whatever it is, count me in.
I think that unless we get into runner packs (which I would like to do when possible), it will be a single road number.
Since quite a few are lamenting the lack of tankcars lets go with a basic black single dome tankcar with Trainboard reporting marks and a build date say in the 1940s. Satisfies the need for tankcars, the transition era modelers, and considering the lifespan of such cars at least up into the 1970s. And I would assume that MT has the tooling tucked away somewhere for this car. In that case I would be in for numbers 12, 13, 14, 15.
I agree with John, make mine 17 and 18. as I have a 22 car tanker fleet just purchased from a TB member (( thanks Allen !)) (for WWII era ) , half in black and half in silver ... one in black and one in silver maybe ????
Well, I was going to keep the whole thing under wraps but since the conversation is taking this turn, and to save time, I will announce that it is a tank car.
