Got mine running behind the J & MH loco # 0956. The car behind it is from 1991 Railfair in Sacramento Calif. This car had never been out of the box until its hook-up to the new Trainboard car. Seemed like a fitting combination. Anyone from the Twin Cities Model Railroad Club out there, or is that also a fallen flag? If 1991 was so long ago, how come I feel the same age?
Here we have Route Rock GP40-2 #3000, fresh from the Capital Rebuild Program, pulling a short local led by the MI box in a fictional Iowa town. Also seen are a restenciled Conrail box back on home rails and a Sprinkle Elevator covered hopper on the head end. New to trainboard. I was referred here solely because of the availability of this special run. I am a lifelong N scaler and a part time freight conductor for the Maryland & Delaware RR here on MD's eastern shore.
Just got mine yesterday, sweet looking car. Sorry for the lack of scenery, still ironing out a few electrical problems.
Alternative Number Here is my TB Special Run car on the right with my original custom painted MI boxcar from Oddballs Decals. I placed the decals according to the drawing in the Oddballs package and used a generic boxcar red color. Notice the plug door on my original car. I do like the ten foot superior door on the Special Run. Here is a close up for comparison of the colors, lettering, etc. My original car looks a little dusty.
New Addition Something new has been spotted on the D&H Rocky Mountain Empire sitting on the High Bridge; a MI #96599
Must either have the brake set or perfectly flat rails. I cant keep mine in one place it wants to roll every where. This is an awesome thread keep em coming everyone.
Earlier this morning, commuter rail traffic was halted for over an hour when police were called to investigate a suspicious package in a frieght yard just outside the city. The package it turns out was an entire railroad boxcar. "I would call this pretty large to be considered just a package, " one police officer said. A bomb sniffing dog was brought out and before the entire local rail operation was shut down, the yard master informed the police that the undocumented railcar was to be part of a display for the upcoming annual "Train Day." Commuter service was quickly restored and the car was affixed with a special sign to prevent further confusion. ...back to you, Tom. (I was surprised to find that the doors actually open )
Three brand new shiny cars, right out of the paint shop, are delivered to the railroad. 96593, 96599 and 96595.
Having 3 cars ,myself, has anyone changed numbers on their cars yet, if more than one car?? If you have, what decals did you use for the numbers? And what range of car numbers can I choose from? I'm thinking of renumbering one car only. Leaving one in the box, complete with factory Maine air! And what maybe left of the original factory air, mixed with any current Colorado air! Anyway, Information appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks, man. I just airbrushed some box car red over it to fade and blend the lettering and used cheap craft paint and some rusty powder from an old stick of art chalk. This was my first N scale weathering project. Here's a shot of the other side.
