I got two Bluford Shops Norfolk Southern 86' boxcars off Ebay. These will be my first Bluford cars and I can hardly wait to see them!
I got this last month, a Kato JNR C57 4-6-2: And to go with it, I picked up a Kato Nichinan Sleeper Express 7 car set:
I picked up a Walther 2-8-4 N scale Berkshire, and installed a TCS WowSound decoder in it along with the KA circuit. Thing sounds awesome!
I have begun accumulating parts for my Turnout control system on the Nittany and Lock Haven. $43.90 ................. Tam Valley Octopus III board (Tamvalleydepot.com) $3.94.................... 10 pcs Mini DPDT toggle switches (ebay) $15.84.................. 8 pcs SG90 Servos (ebay) $5.45.................... .032" Piano wire (ebay) $6.18.................... 1/16" Brass tubing (ebay) $3.60.................... 5 pcs 50cm RC Extension wire (ebay) $3.11.................... Irwin 1/16" x 6" Drill bit (ebay) $6.93 ............. AC to DC Power pack (ebay) $88.65 total or $11.08/turnout I guess it comes out to be an ok value. It would have been a bit cheaper if I had some of the stuff laying around, but I'm ok with it.
I think this is the first N Scale loco I've read of being WowSound equipped. Do you think WowSound has much potential for N?
I just got a little plastic interlocking tower from That Auction Site for $7. (I have lots of PayPal credit to use and might as well spend it.) The photo of the model looked a lot like common Santa Fe towers which fits my layout. The auction didn't say what manufacturer it came from. Imagine my surprise when I found it marked AHM- must be from 1970s. Good basic model. Stairs, details a bit clunky. Some visible glue. Assembled (wish it wasn't). Thick plastic "glass" in windows will need to come off from repainting. Will take work, but I enjoy making something out of old stuff. I will look through my books and personal photos for pics of Santa Fe towers for comparison. Looks like one from my specific modeled proto location. No hurry. Tower will go on one of two possible locations, on sections I have not yet built from my layout- either the connection between Santa Fe and the port terminal switching railroad, or at the throat of the passenger terminal.
At the National Train Show Saturday picked up Fox Valley Cumberland Valley and Alleghany Midland wagontop boxcars, Trainworx Bud Of California 40' van trailer,Bowser Wilkes-Barre Milling Co,ERCO, and Missouri Pacific cylindrical hoppers. The show was very infomative.
Got the last pieces to finish out my first stage of the layout. Some Kato straights, curves, bumpers, and switches. Also picked up six of the Kato switch boxes, so now I can sit back and flip the levers and send my train all over creation. Lots of fun.
I was a late comer to the Kato Volvos but found four of these on the bay last evening and will modify and paint them for the ACTRR's update in era. Mike
With all the BAD luck/News lately, I thought it was time to treat myself!! After just dropping yet ANOTHER $3000 in truck repairs!! This time: Timing Chain Tensioner/Chain Guide, front and rear. So yeah, I went and pulled the trigger: Only thing that needs to be done, is restring the boom. A couple of threads are a bit too long. The P&H key works the shovel. Lifts and lowers the bucket and boom. The car is an Atlas 1978 Ford Fairmont, 4 door. The exact same as MY very first car!! Color and all!
WOW! That’s some excavator! Very nice! Here is my latest purchase, 1 powered, one dummy and a Lenz decoder, all at a low price. Happy days. -James
I know it's a cliche, but it really does cut through styrene like a hot knife through butter. Now to figure out what to scratch build first.
About as deep as this one my son and daughter in law work at..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Round_Mountain_gold_mine,_aerial.jpg
