Here's what I want to know...WHY are people still buying these???: Southern Pacific Locomotive N scale High Speed No. 418 | eBay ...and WHY would they pay $10 for them?????
the 9.99 included priority mail postage, (6 bucks) so was only $4, and they make great filler for yard or loco shop. and by swapping out the trucks on the hi speed freight cars, they can go right into revenue service.
Kadee collector cars I doubt that you own one....? MTL(kadee) 24010 ROCK 57715 Blue car with blue door .... used to sell for $45-$50 MTL(kadee) 24010 ROCK 57715 Blue car with black door ... used to sell for $435+ There have been several counterfeits (including cars with the wrong reporting number) offered on eBay over the years. Within the past two months, an eBay seller declined my offer of $200 for a car he had listed. I would have paid $300. It eventually sold for more than $1,000 but that included some other cars in his lot. I've done business with the buyer so I know it was a legitmate transaction.
I suspect it was because it was an unmatched set. Unless I'm mistaken, Kato didn't sell different paint schemes together did they? You might say why not buy two cars? (save shipping?- I dunno)
WooooHoooooo! Ultra rare. I've always wanted one of these. A GP60!!!!!!!!!!! Union Pacific ex-SP GP 60 Non Powered | eBay
My mom collected them from her fellow Reader's Digest subscribers in her retirement condo a few years back and gave them to me with a motherly squeal of delight, thinking she hit the target with my selected scale. I had them on a shelf and it seemed they collected more dust even though inside a case, and ultimately I just gave them away to fledgling potential model railroader kids on Saturday mornings layout time in the garage. Ultimately when I saw these being sold/exploited by sellers and the outlandish descriptions trying to milk honestly earned money from buyers, I grew to despise what these stood for, and even developed disinclinations to SP Bloody Nose GP38's, Reader's Digest itself even though they were innocent pawns in these heists. I have seen MT cars go for less, and lament the fact that PT Barnum once stated. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
I'm not sure I get the joke on this one. It is only $1.99 and the seller didn't use "rare" or any of the other eBay warning/buzz words. The seller even says, "Although these trains do not perform well, this unit would be perfect for a yard or as a prop around a diesel shop."
Well, you're right. He doesn't indicate it's "rare" - but don't you at least think a dummy loco with no motor or drive train is described as doesn't "perform well" ? hahahahah. Duh! He never calls it a dummy. How about doesn't perform at ALL! hahahah! The humor is---- he calls it a GP60. And went to the trouble of renumbering it. That's why I added the words ultra rare, and I added tons of exclamation marks after "GP60". In case anyone's not up on prototype identification, these dumb things are crude representations of a GP35 (since it's turbocharged and the middle radiator fan is smaller than the other two). Does he think he'll get more by calling it a GP60? Or does he not know what it is?
I just watched 3 Overland UP turbine tenders go for over $500 apiece. The 3 unit turbine that sold the day before went cheaper than the individual tenders. Holy Cow, someone needs to fill that niche. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280798664606?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
So- I just saw this one - what the heck - is this really what these early Atlas loco's looked like? It looks really strange, like something is bigtime wrong with the wheelbase - all that space between the truck and the loco ends, and it starts at $40.
Yep, that is first run of the Atlas units that were made by KATO. All of them were like that. Someone sold a retrofit frame kit for them to lengthen the wheel base.
What a horrendous manufacturing error. At the time, I bought one of those. Then did the frame retrofit when such became available. I believe it was from Aztec.
Lol...just saw this deal pop up. Someone make an offer quick! http://www.ebay.com/itm/JE-CON-COR-...473554?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564804fb92
