    Weathering badly was the downfall of BSB. Maybe it was the quality of the paint used, or? Aside from the fact I grew up seeing their classic colors....

    Well I didn't grow up in GN territory, and that pic of 6610 above was a revelation to me. I had no idea that paint started out that dark! I thought the baby blue it faded into about a year before it turned white and fell off the locomotive was the actual color of the paint!

    Actually, as with successor BN and their green, there seemed to be different hues of "BSB". It may have depended upon the supplier, or where the painting was done.

    What ever happened to the LNA&C? Does it still exist? As a freight RR?

    It still operates today and still hauls freight. Motive power is an ALCO S4M numbered 86. It's technically been renamed the Lucas Oil Rail Line by its owner Lucas Oil, but the loco still wears the LNA&C letters.
