Yes, No. 543 was preserved originally as part of Santa Fe's historic collection. The photo in the thread shows it in Sacramento after the collection was donated to CSRM. It was later sold or donated (I can't remember which) to the Illinois Railway Museum in 2009. When it was delivered to IRM, the engine was delivered outside of the engine, so as far as I'm aware, it is not operable.
The Amtrak Super Chief departing Galesburg, IL behind SF F45 5920, March 18, 1973 (Carl F. Nelson) The Super in Galesburg on another day, February 4, 1973 (Carl F. Nelson) (Note, in both this and the previous view, Santa Fe's bicentennial baggage car in the consists.)
I wonder if the F7-B is pulling, or just being toted along as a steam generator tender? And I wonder if the March 18 trip was a bit chilly, as that's a lot of train for just one steam generator, no matter how big! Those are, after all, F45s, not FP45s in the blue paint.

A continuation of the last photo in the previous post, the Super Chief moves out of Galesburg, IL, February 3, 1973 (Carl F. Nelson) The Super Chief again, loading passengers in Galesburg, IL, April 29, 1972 (Carl F. Nelson)
The Es and Fs are so much prettier than the later power. Their lines flow perfectly with the cars. Thanks for the comparison Bill.

Probably just a garden verity freight locomotive like an SD40 added for a little more horse power. Could be one or more of the F units failed. Still plenty of steam for the line.
That's what I think. It's also at the point, probably because it doesn't have trainline hoses for the steam generators in the F-units. And looking at the back end of that SD, there's no extension on the end to house a steam generator. So it's a plain road freight engine.
