Right now - no cleaning up or carefull placement of some prize winning model - grab your digital camera and take a snap of your work bench as it is right now and post it here.

    Here is my mess...

Actually I cleaned up my layout and work area last weekend, and plan to start working on connecting a computer to my DCC system. I have beta KAM software that I got when I went to the KAM training class at the 2000 NMRA National Convention, and all turnouts are ran by Tortise Machines/Switct-It controllers. I also want to buy software to program decoders with.

I don't have a dedicated work area due to lack of space, so I use the kitchen table or my computer desk mostly, and I airbrush in the backyard on the picnic table.

Got a digital camera recently but it hasn't done much yet, so what a good excuse to use it  .

The item 'in production' is my rolling road, although it has only just been placed there - I've been doing the messy carpentry in the utility room this afternoon and will do the finishing work on the bench tomorrow.

This bench doubles as a desk; hence domestic paperwork at the right hand end.

The end of my layout (with part built coke ovens) is visible at left.

    Hey guys.
Robert and Mike have a nice clean workbench, but I feel more comfortable with RobĀ“s because I believe he know exactly where to find stuff :D like me :D
    Judge for your self.
I have to jump between three "stations".
First the brain storming place at the PC (I might find useful tip at TrainBoard [IMG] )
Secondly I have to go downstairs to model something.
Third, I forgot some electric connection, and must then go to the "electric" corner.
Anyhow, I got good condition :D

Thanks for posting Helge - I was getting worried with all those clean work benches...

Mike - what is this rolling road thing? It looks like a track that you can run a loco on in place. Is is a kit your your own design?

Unfortunately I don't have any pics, and no digital camera either. But be assured, y'all look like neatniks compared to my mess!

Well, no camera available here. Suffice to say that my workbench is in embarassing condition at present. I'm not usually this sloppy. [IMG]

Rob, that's just what it is. My system is (will be [IMG] ) end to end with no possibility of continuous running, so I decided to acquire a 'rolling road'/'stationary test bed/whatever for setting up, testing and running in locos. As I am using DCC+sound there may be a fair bit of fiddling to do. The only HO ready mades I could find were about $150  , so I bought some miniature ball-bearings and set about building my own. (Now of course I've seen an advert that looks like $60 for what I would need   . Murphy is alive and well...).

I'm redoing my website at present to include my HO exploits and will be adding a few pixs of this with notes when it is done.

Heres a all around shot of part of my shop and work bench... A lot of train stuff everywhere! :D

Here's another picture of about the same area just farther to the left.... Showing my wooden home-made machinist tool chest... And the one parts bin cabinet....

This is a picture of the far right of the shop's desk area.... Showing more of my part bin cabinets, and test track and home made metal rolling tool chest.... And part of my HUGE 6 foot long 5 foot wide Oak Display case....

    WHAT A MESS! :D :D

Here's a few more pictures, close ups of the area... This one is showing my wooden home made machinist tool chest with a Rivarossi EX. Y6b customized to be a B&O EL-5, this is the loco that I had started the topic in the inspection pit to help me decide which of the 3 real ones to model. It became B&O EL-5 #7160.... I still have to custom paint the Vanderbuilt Rivarossi tender to it tho... And on the main desk is some customer work in the shop, repair the gondola car setting on the small Athearn box, and the Athearn box has a B&O 200 ton boom crane in the shop for assembly! And a few other cars setting around for custom detailing and some custom re pating.. such as the yellow crane in the background, which will be a part of the next MOW train I'm going to custom build for my own collection for the Western Maryland...

Here's a picture of the main work area. Thats a Rivarossi 2-10-2 That I'm going to custom paint. As you see it I have installed a new flat can motor and moved it to inside the boiler and not in the cab area. I want to add the engineer and fireman to it and the firebox backhead and butterfly doors and firebox glow. I have yet to decal it and put all the boiler railing back on it. The box to the right of it has the 2 Vanderbuilt tenders in it, in parts, one to the 2-10-2 and the other to the customized Y6b EL-5....

And last but not least, a closer picture of the box with the tenders in it and all the tools.

I'VE GOT A MESS! HA! Enjoy!

    satokuma,
You have to get that picture on some time of web space to post it here in TrainBoard. I would highly recommend going to the link at the top of the page that says "Rail Images" and click on it, and getting a acount with them, being its a special web hosting site for TrainBoard and its members to upload pictures on to then upload them in your posts, like mine above.

See you loaded your picture from your hard drive, from "My Documents" on your computer which doesn't make it avalable for the internet for posting on sites. heres a link to look into getting a acount for hosting pictures to post at forum sites....

    Rail Images Site

This will help you get your pictures viewable to all the other users here.... HTH

Alas, a picture of my current workbench and layout: [IMG] would be a picture of an empty room. I've got soem grand daydreams for when I have space and time again, though!

Here's mine ... it's kinda messy, but it works, and it's convenient to the layout.

Right now the layout is my workbench! I am in the process of hand building some N scale code 55 turnouts.
