Key brass locomotives were usually good runners for 'brass'. Looks good but the lettering (Large Southern Pacific) places it post war. The number board light arrangement would have been toward the center of the boiler. It is an excellent price for a brass steam locomotive. Does it run well?
Haven’t received it yet, but it will get a full tear down cleaning and lube and maybe DCC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just received a couple of Athearn FP45 in the 'fictitious' Western Pacific silver/orange/black paint scheme. They just looked too good to pass up. Western Pacific used their FP7A with two F7B units until the bitter end. Of course I bent reality to say that the FP45 units were available after 1966 in the event the FP7A and FB units were shopped for maintenance. My railroad... my twisted reality... LOL
Congrats! If you don't mind, how do they run and what kind of features do they come with, ie...like added grab irons and such. I looked at the BNSF one on line but all it had was a drawing so I didn't pull the trigger. Thanks, Ralph
Had a Bachmann 2-8-2 with Vanderbilt tender show up along with a SP ore car and a pair of SP covered hoppers. Couplers on the cars, a swap of the rear tender truck on the loco to a MTL coupler and will be removing the trailing truck on the engine and turning it into a KCS 2-8-0.
Picked up a Micro-Train 50' Rio Grande orange & silver boxcar, Atlas Soo GP7 and Burlington U25B at Trainfest.
My favorite hobby shop had a 15% off sale, so I ordered the following: Atlas Master Line N 50005719 48' Cushion Coil Car, Illinois Central #299602 ATL-50005719 1 $22.99 USD $22.99 USD Bluford Shops N 73942 Offset Side 70-Ton 3-Bay Hoppers, Grand Trunk Western (Block Lettering) (2-Pack) BLU-73942 1 $29.99 USD $29.99 USD Micro-Trains N 09300180 3-Bay Covered Hopper with Round Hatches Hopper, Western Pacific #11796 MTL-09300180 1 $27.99 USD $27.99 USD Micro-Trains N 00322021 (1000-B) Brown Bettendorf Trucks with Short Extension Couplers (1 pair, Assembled) MTL-00322021 2 $7.19 USD $14.38 USD Atlas Master Line N 50005720 48' Cushion Coil Car, Illinois Central #299608 ATL-50005720 1 $22.99 USD $22.99 USD Hmm... there goes this month's banana supply...
So, my new Brass loco didn’t far so gooddent in the top of the boiler Handrails smashed flat “” Truck side frames broken off the truck How it was packaged, loose in the box. He did state that the original foam was deteriorated, not missing completely. All that wrapped the loco was some light plastic, otherwise it roamed around the box. The box rattled when I pick it up from the post office(I knew that was a bad sign). I have a return going through Ebay, so far the shipper is doing right. It was packaged correctly for the return, bubble wrapped loco to the width of the box, and stuffed with packing peanuts. But it was his lack of packing that caused this. I would never have shipped this loco this way. This is how I returned it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
YIKES!!!! Sorry to see the seller was careless with packing the GS4 properly. Very likely most of the damage was pre-existing.
according to the eBay descrition it was perfectly fine and ran well. Acoording to the eBay description it was perfect and ran well when tested
Have not run them because I removed my track due to a short. I took pictures of #807 (fictitious #s 807 & 810). All handrails and grab irons are moulded into the shell. External railings are free standing plastics. It is DCC/Sound according to the Athearn insert, however, it does NOT state the type of DCC/Sound unit installed... and... worse yet there is no documentation included in the box. Have to rely on the description by Athearn and will likely have to download all CV information IF AVAILABLE. I am a bit disappointed and concerned.
Finally received an Athearn cement truck that got lost in the on-base post office for a month here-seen below next to Medusa Cement and some 3D printed cement trucks. Also got 3x BLMA tank cars and some more decals so I can finish my Dash 8s (fantasy WC scheme) and add reflective stripes to rolling stock. Lastly I got some cheap containers and cars off eBay. They are okay-you get what you pay for. The magnets in the top of the containers aren’t quite centered/evenly spaced, which means they don’t always line up when stacked if they are on the bottom position. The magnets in the bottom of the container are centered, so they do stack okay with Katos, and JTCs if they are on top of the stack. They stack okay with themselves if the magnets on top aren’t too-off centered. Same thing with the cars-I bought a bunch to put inside autoracks, so they don’t need to be perfect. They came in two slightly different sizes as well. But in case anyone is interested in using these outside of an autorack, here is a photo with Atlas, River Point Station, Kato, GHQ, Micro Trains, and Busch for comparison. I got some of those cheap cars off of Hamazon a year so ago. For the price I like them a lot. And of course several of us have the RPS vehicles now. If nay bundles left I am going to order some during the holidays. If they are still there when I am ready to order? Nice haul you got there!
Well my 2 AMTRAK 50th Anniversary locomotives and my New York Central passenger set finally arrived, photos soon......
Hoppers-always more hoppers. The open BNs will get patched for WC. Looks like there is a series of former BN open hoppers (33000) patched for WC on rrpicturearchives so going to try and match some prototypes. I’ll just change one of the numbers on the Helm so I don’t ha be a duplicate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Received 2 sets of WS traffic light masts and 2 sets of WS traffic light pedestals. I probably won't be setting these up anytime soon. I need to work on track work before setting up a town with buildings, light posts and traffic signals.
They are out? Available at all resellers? See ya, time to look for some of these. How are the Mast vs the Pedestal? Which you like best? Never mind, found them! Time to place and order
