Ah, yes! My g/f knows I'd like a close up lens for my Canon, but I don't think she could afford it. Or a good digital camera for that matter. I guess we'll see Saturday when the family gets together.
no train stuff for Christmas but I did get a little bit of cash $$$ !! train show here next weekend !!
I was fortunate enought to find an Atlas 55 ton fishbelly hopper with a coal load in Reading RR livery under the tree along with a saw mill kit - both will look great on the layout! Plus, I had already bought myself 40 pieces of flextrack and 15 turnouts and reserved an Atlas VO-1000 (w/decoder) for later delivery, so it has been a good Christmas. Most importantly, our youngest daughter, her husband and our newest grandbaby will be here this afternoon for her first Christmas - a wonderful day!
Some time back my wife gave me a chunk of coal as a gag gift in my Christmas stocking (she was feeling mischevious that year, and yes I got much better gifts ). I had it in the train room for some time until I pulverized it to make coal loads. Now, every one of the 18 100-ton hoppers in my unit coal train are loaded with live loads (good ol' fashioned eastern Oklahoma coal, too). We both had a laugh from her gag gift, but the joke was on her when I put that coal to use in the manner above.
Yahoo! Completely unsuspected, I got Karl Zimmermann's great book on the New York Central's 20th Century Limited. Daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren read my mind. Thanks.
Same here and adding that to a small stash I saved up, I made a nearly $500 order from our sponsor, InternetTrains.com Charlie
well no trainstuff but man i got nascar 2004 for the ps2 and i can really knock the heck outta jeff gordon and his fruit loop colored car
Wig-wag, Yea! Yes! I knew there was a Christmas! Charge them to the card; we're off for Florida on Sat. afternoon. There's someone (or two or three or a raging full-time party) at the house while we're gone, if you can arrange delivery with them. Just as long as they don't burn down the house. Got exactly what I predicted, though Jeanne bought herself a few hotel kits to kitbash into a skyscaper for downtown. Imagine that--your wife or girlfriend buys herself enough kits for a 15-story hotel! And she'll build it! I think I'm a lucky man. Pete
Since I started this topic, here's what Santa brought me: 2 High-hood B23-7 engines--to be kitbashed into BN B30-7A's, the cabless units. 2 GN Big Sky Blue Intermountain ACF 3-bay hoppers, MT GN 56' tanker, Delux Innovations (old) Northern Pacific woodchip rack, BN-patched. 7 decoders of my SD40-2 fleet are also coming soon, provided that they are not on backorder!
I guess most all my Christmas wishes all came true. I wanted things to quiet down around here and they have. I have my two weeks off from work because FORD shuts their plants down over the Holidays. I asked for gift certificates for the local hobby shop, and I got whole bunches! (The wife has advised family how to keep Mark happy!) I still have a loving/understanding wife, family, and a whole lot of good friends in the best hobby on the planet. About the only wish I didn't get was to bring EVERYBODY in the ARMED FORCES HOME!!! I guess one thing at a time. Looking Forward to a Even Better Year Next Year!! MARK
Hemi, Give me a hoy via email, please, if you have the time. I'm doing the same kitbashes now... gats@trainboard.com

What I got for Christmas (mine was this past Saturday due to work and my kids being 150 miles away) is and isn't really hobby related. Someone loved me enough to give me an Epson All in One scanner/copier/printer. I guess I can't whine about not having a way to get my of my photos on my Rail Images site. I'll be filling it up as soon as I get it hooked up. (I have an iMac, so watch it be a real PAIN!
