I just finished weathering this 2-8-2 Mikado. A toolbox was added under the tender. The toolbox contains 7 grams of weight to improve electrical tracking of the tender: I also finished a "Cheater Boxcar"using a LL GP-20 Chassis and a 50' boxcar car shell. There is also a Lenz 521W decoder in the shell: Stay cool and run steam.....
Just returned from visiting with NS (Dan). Still trying to get a handle on a new camera, but wanted to post a few of the better pics I got of his really nice layout. KB
Just got back from the show, and have a ton of photos.. http://dynomite.ath.cx:8080/gallery/todd-mr-19thrrsc/ Here are my newest aquisitions, a pair of VIA E8/9s.. got them for a steal too.. $100 for the pair, WITH decoders. Not sure if they ever ran them this way, but I wanted to try them out, and felt sorta weird having VIA pulling some freight around, so pulled out the dash9 to help a bit.
Hi John, thanks No not a spare bedroom, the back corner of the garage. The garage of this house is oversized, 33'x39' so at the far end I have the layout, bikes and motorcycle, storage cabinets and workbenchs. Makes it nice since we still get both cars in the garage along with all the other stuff people usually have and we can still walk around.
Track Plan, well this is the best I have, the yard is a bit different as well as the area in the blue box, the latest addition. Things added to plan, Piggyback yard and loading tracks, Icehouse and tracks. The addition is different in that I increased the radius of the loop and moved the position of the 180 to the left. Last ones for the weekend. GP9 waiting for the next assignment. Alcos just arrived. Great pictures all. I must say I like this format of it running the entire weekend. You get to post as you go or the mood strikes. Great format. [ May 01, 2005, 09:09 PM: Message edited by: sitchad ]

Tom stated: Nice job on the Mikado! What is a “cheater” boxcar? Tom: The cheater boxcar was kitbashed from a LL GP-20 chassis and a 50' boxcar shell. A decoder was installed in the cheater boxcar as well. The cheater box is a fully powered "dummy" that I use behind steam loco's to increase the pulling power of the steamers. All the steam loco's on the JJJ&E become "supercharged" when consisted with the powered cheater boxcar. Stay cool and run steam.... [ May 02, 2005, 12:02 PM: Message edited by: Powersteamguy1790 ]
Sitchad, That looks really nice. Thanks! Tom, Take a look at the box car. You will see a specialized compartment between the very heavy duty trucks for carrying liquids: Bob does it so well that you don't even notice them the first time you look. Thanks for sharing Bob.
