Ditto on the search thing. I realize the problem with bots, but if I happen to click "New Posts" and then nothing happens, and then I click it again (same if I accidentally double-click) I get the no more searches for the next 28 seconds thing. Ugggh! I voted for the new color, though I am not going to get in a fight with anyone over it. Adam
We listen to our membership No fight here either... I can tell you that Charlie wants to hear (and see your votes) from you and he will do what he thinks is best for the membership. I might have voted ORANGE since that had been our Colors but I won't have any heartache if we find we need to change either. :star2: :star2: :star2: :star2:
Oh. Okay. Technical terms, you know? What are all those places? I don't have that many bookmarks on my browser as I only look at TrainBoard, usually.
I really don't know for sure but I am guessing that they are book mark services where you can set up an account to keep all your bookmarks on line. Useful if you travel and use hotel or library computers.
How about if people sent in their favorite locomotive or train pic and TB make a collage from those selected. Of course some editing would go into the process(i.e. contrasting, fading, pasting...etc). Take for example my background image on my webblogger--->http://easterniarail.blogspot.com--->where I pasted the heralds onto one page and did some fading edits. Just thought to throw an idea out. As for the colors, I do like the different colors a lot better than the "Tennessee" orange.
I voted keep the gray. I have no problem whatsoever with the orange but thought when the change took place, wow this looks nice! Sharp, easy on the eyes.
Maybe at some point the software makers could add a feature where each reader can set his own color scheme and background. Customize your own Trainboard!
I like that idea! I like the current colors. I was fine with the previous colors, too. I am just so thankful this isn't a black web page with dark blue writing. I don't know who ever thought that was a good idea. I can't hardly see text in such a situation. I am also quite happy that we don't have clashing colors here. If you put a strong blue next to a strong red you nearly set up a situation for me where my brain wants to have a seizure. I haven't had one since I was a baby and I don't want to have another right now. Hey, look! New smilies! :call-me:irate::soldier::cowboy:
I voted for the orange/yellow scheme. The gray just looks a little drab to me, but keeping it wouldn't make me stop coming here. The real value of the site isn't in the colors, but in the information that is shared.
I agree. As long as the content is legible, the administrators can use any colors they like (well, maybe not green/purple). There should have been another choice in the poll: "I don't care".
It doesn't look bad with the gray, but IMO I like the orange. Guess it's what I'm used to. There IS Mandarin orange, though....................
Keep Voting and make your views heard Good to see we already have had 33 votes come in but would love to hear from alot more members.
I think it's kinda like a Supermarket strategy; colors effect what we do and the time frame in which we do it. Grey is a more calming color over Orange. Not sure the significance of the Orange color, but if like Red it get's more emotion over a grey that you maybe more apt to hang out longer due to the calming effect. Either way it's fine by me for sure I like the content found here and the level of activity. It's a slow period for our hobby, yet this site is still quite active, more so than most like forums. Each day you come through you can easily find over 100 new post. That to me speaks volumes for the site , the folks that maintain it, it's content, and the individuals that frequent it. Bravo all around:thumbs_up:
I voted for the Orange/yellow scheme we have used for many years. Maybe I'm just hesitant to change. The gray on gray colors seem too "cloudy"....but thats just my opinion. Regardless of colors (unless it changes to wild pink and lime green) I'm not going anywhere! If the orange shade we used in the past was too..."distracting" perhaps that color can be "watered down" some how by either making it semi-transparent or darker?
The Orange (or any other color) should be on the main pages where there are more "bars", but on the threads, like this, the grey should stay. When A newcomer first visits the site (not having knowledge from anyone already here) they should feel welcome and a little excited to be a part of Trainboard. But with the Grey It makes it look plain and life less (my opinion). The grey should stay in the threads because it "blends in" better and makes it easier on people's eyes to read the posts. Or, like mention earlier, allow people to customize "their" Trainboard to make them comfortable.
I like the orange/yellow color with the grey. As far as future background colors go, it may be best to stay the same to keep downloading demands as low as possible. Adding too many itens may add too much to the co$t without adding any value. My only suggestion for a new color scheme would be to follow the prototype. ATSF fans may want a red/yellow warbonnet, BN fans green/black/white etc. This could open a flame war impossible to put out. It may be fun to set up a "picture of the day/Month" feature to display the best pictures from the Railimages gallery.
We're not really effected by these kinds of issues at this point. We solved the bandwidth problem some time ago. Charlie
