Jean-Edouard, Very nice! The first shots remind me very much of Colorado, while the later shots remind me of New Mexico, where I live.
HI , GREAT LAYOUT , What kind of soil do they use , On my layout I uses soil from Crete , nicked in the evening at the hotel , two bags I took with me home http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/555967933VDeZEw Tomas
Yes, I confirm : running trains on Somewhere West layout is like a dream. My Southern Pacific / Rio Grande diesels feel right at home on it... Jean-Edouard TM
Tomas, Lucien Wiss, who did the scenery, used sand from the nearest moutain in France, the Vosges mountains, made of pale pink sandstone. When needed sand was painted after installation. Rocks are made of plaster. Most of them were molded in Woodland scenics molds or custom-made molds. Isolated rocks on top of cliffs are small real stones with appropriate shape. Jean-Edouard
AMAZING scenery!! I have vacationed near Sedona, Arizona many times, and those photos capture the feel of the area with uncanny accuracy! Some of the canyon scenes bring to mind the Mesa Verde area in southwest Colorado as well (just add cliff dwellings!) http://www.sportsfun.com/AZHikingGallery/galleryintro.asp?galleryid=BoyntonCanyon_101506
The Guy behind is the ARTIST!!! Thats Lucien Wiss ouer big archetype!!! He is so a great modeller! Lucien on the Loop
