Gee, All that mess looks familiar. Managed to pile up about 20 of my hoppers at the same spot earlier this year. The only thing I did wrong was to slow my four Mopac FA's down. Should have kept some power on at that point. The slack running up against the locomotives is what causes all the cars to derail. Jason, you should have told me that you and Flash Blackman were going to the club on Sunday! Scott and I would have been there as well. Gary.
That's a great looking derailment. I derailed a loaded 15 car loaded log train on a steep grade on my Simpson Timber Co. layout. The skeleton log cars stringlined up against the bank going down grade. if they had gone over the bank they would have ended up in the the mill a lot quicker!
Flash, as one who has himself faced the board of inquiry more often than I'd care to admit, let me say: stick with your story! I would love to see the Colonel's layout, it looks outstanding in pictures. Whether he would let me run on it with my storied past is another question...jumpseat, perhaps???
Sure you would be welcome to operate my layout although these pics are not from mine they are from Sydney N scale Club
Excellent job of modeling prototype! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=49703 But your trucks stayed on. You'll have to fix that next time....
trying to top Linfield, Jason......let me guess derailed on the points into Green River Trk 3 caught the stick and pulled the rest over top stuff. got to see the remnants of a real one in Glenwood Canyon (I think) smashed up coal hoppers everywhere. I just love how Americans just shove everything to the side. funny
I never did. That's 'cause I'm extremely safety conscious, never allow myself to be distracted and always keep a tight rein and what I'm doi... Huh? What? Where? How many? Aw cra...!!! Sorry guys...I gotta go. Mike
I can't tell you how long it's been since I've ever had that problem at home. Why, Eveythings in boxes.
So that was what you were doing in Sydney! Sweet! Perhaps when I win the lottery or get a rich girlfriend I can head Downunder. Glad you had fun.
Man I missed this thread big time, Flash, sorry for the razzing these guys giving you lol,but I must take some blame being your brakeman & all,who ever installed those signals did a fine job of it! Randgust, luv that photo. Sten,no one repeat no one can top "String Line Lindfield" as the evidence shall show! these where brand new units on their first outing & this guy is an actual train driver for City Rail! & finally,
Here is Flash signing the charge sheet in front of some club officials, pee test comes next! & Flash in better days , Was a great arvo had by all & this is what it's all about ,running HOOGE A$$ trains & having fun.
Anyone on Train Board ever in Sydney feel free to drop us a line & come & have a run with us,anytime!
Well, yes, but not exactly. These are Jason's cars and they are permanently coupled with drawbars. MTs are every 4-5 cars. I think Jason once had a thread on this. </font>[/QUOTE]Thanks Flash,I have 120 car coal unit train with about 95 finished so far,to save big $'s on M/T's (approx $600 Au.) I came up with draw bars,as Flash said every 5 cars. 2mm square brass stock, cut to length & drilled both ends then chemically blackened.Using M/T's drill & tap set & 5/16 screws. With M/T 1015's at either end & using the original MDC trucks which work fine & look & sound good!
