I guess he thought the red flashing lights meant "GO", at first and then regained consciousness. Doug
At the end, it appears the truck may be starting to move forward. As the lights continue to flash. Which is illegal. If so, the owner of his/her company needs to see this video.
It's a 45 zone there so I think he was cooking along a bit faster by the length of the skid! After he changed his shorts that night, he would have to tell on himself in the mirror, this is a farmer bringing crop in or picking up something. Maybe he learned something, and maybe he only cussed the train for being in his way.
Always nice to see a headlight in the distance, then being surprised by what it is!! This looks like Crew 2 SB at MP26.4x in Sumner, Wa with atleast 75+ cars in the consist!!
Yeah, it's funny how "normal" people see those headlights and try to speed up to beat the train to the crossing and we "abnormal" people see those headlights and slow down, hoping the train gets to the crossing before we do. "Dang! Now I have to wait for that train to pass! I won't be looking at road names or wheels or journals or build dates or anything like that!" Doug
And us insane folks speed up to beat the train to the crossing, swap lenses on the camera, drive with our knees and skid to a halt, then bail out of the truck while it's still moving and compose a shot!
If the gates and flashers haven't yet started their action, I'll pass over the crossing, park on the other side, jump out with camera, get the shot and then depart. With the gates still down, making a right hand turn is a breeze.
I guess I could have left some of these out, but I figured with you guys you'd rather have them all. Kinda sad, looking up close on most of these, they seem to be in fairly poor repair. BNSF just doesn't seem to have any heritage minded people around, or at least none of them in position to spend any money. .
You figured correctly and yes, American passenger equipment (and all, worldwide, actually) should ALWAYS be kept in top form. There is a certain beauty about it nothing else has. Doug
Texas & New Orleans C-9 Consolidation was built by Baldwin in 1905. Here it is posing at the Kingsbury depot, about 30 miles east of San Antonio.
My great grandfather would have freaked out over that. He had to ride one of the velocipedes around. You know the ones you had to pump with your arms and legs to move them. Doug
Yes it is and I remember from the same time period (2008 - 2009) when I was out on the road in the Waseca/Janesville/Mankato, MN area, There was a huge Ethanol facility near Waseca (still there, I'm sure) and there were always tank cars and hoppers around it. Some of them were KCS cars and I could tell they were brand new and had fancy paint schemes for freight cars. They had the same colors as the locomotives in Russ' picture. I could never get real close to them but the paint looked like the modern coatings that never chip off. They almost look fuzzy. I'm sure some of you guys know exactly what those coverings are. Doug
