Joe, those are superb!!! Loved your Railimages library!! Question - how did you do the SD39? I just finished one of those slugs and now I need to figure out how to create an SD39....
Joe, it'd be great if your next picture was of those with some SD40's or SD45's on a drag freight. Your work is a true inspiration for a 90's Santa Fe modeler like myself.
All, thanks for the kind words. William I used a SD40. Going to Denver Convention? I will have the SD-39 with me. If not email me direct and I can detail what I did. It was many moons ago. Joe Cox
Joe......I'll second/third/fourth everyone.... BEAUTIFUL work! Keep it up and thx for sharing the photos.
As I was browsing through all the prototype photos, I noticed a lot (maybe half?) of the pictures show the units with no cab shades. Most were trailing units, but IIRC there are even a few shots of leading units with no cab shades. Does anybody have an explanation for this?
Anyone got theirs done yet? That's my plan for my GN units... Are any of these finished yet? I have started Grey One's this week, should be getting a coat of red this weekend. My blog is chronicle-ing the buildup: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/blogs/viewblog.php?userid=574 Now that's neat. I never thought of Ski Train! Let's see 'em when they are done! Would look great with Kansas bringing up the markers... Even if the rumor is true, these are still better. *wink*
Snoopy Dance! Man, I feel you are not being paid enough. I promise when I get a better job I'll give you a few "easy" ones.
Finally, completion!!! These had been done for a few days, but I haven't had time to take decent pics till now.... 'Njoy! http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1049/both.jpg Steve, These are headed your way on Monday, with 'Rocky' decals, and SD40 shells....
hemi nice what-if cp rail units. i hope you don't mind if i suggest a few things... most likely cp rail would have added white zebra stripes to the fromt of the unit. probably the back of the unit would have been black with white stripes as well. or at least read with white stripes never saw a loco number with a leading 0. at least not on a cp rail unit. not even the relettered ones
Good points Sandro. Hemi pointed out details like that. I don't like those stripes. They disrupt the clean lines of a loco which in the real world is what they should do. The numbers are special birth days. The "CP Rail" is missing because some day they will bear two very special names.
