Yes, they were hot, and operated very well. They operated trolleys with only the single pole, and some bigger units on the Main Line with operating pantagraphs. Very Cool!

    Hey,
Because we get different engines on every trip,we're suppose to check the blue form on the engine & cab car.( Cab cars are considered engines ).
It's the 92 day inspection. We also check for daily inspection forms. If the 92 day form is close,we are to inform the dispatcher.

    Jerry,
Like the pic!! Even got the chance to run 'em Sunday morning, for about 2 hours. Pushing the spreader in front of them! Train wouldn't be complete without Alans' lighted caboose either!

I'm betting the brass guys wouldn't like what I did to a perfectly good set of Overland brass......Weather them and run the $%^& out of 'em!!!:eek:mg:

And for brass, these units actually run pretty good. Smooth, slow and quiet.

    Oscar's Boeing Models

That's a beautiful model. Does anyone know what Oscar used for the 737? I've wanted to model one of these for a long time but have never found a suitable starting point for an N-scale 737 (I worked at Boeing in Renton from line number 3 to about line number 800).

Thanks for te compliments! for the full aircraft, I used a Revelle 737-800 in 1:144 scale. That is the closest I could find. The section of a 737 was an Airfix 737-400. The biggest difference in these to models was that the Revelle model had the windows formed in the plastic, while the Airfix only had decaled windows. I preferred the formed windows, the only thing was that I couldn't figure out a way to cover them, like they were supposed to be, that would be easy and look realistic. Plus, I ran out of time lol

I only attended on Saturday. The layouts and models on display at the convention were excellent. The vendors were all top notch. I will say that the highlight of this show for me was meeting the manufacturer's representatives face to face. I stopped at all their booths, even though Kato's had nobody there to talk to at the time, but I watched their RDCs go roundy round and later bought two. The Athearn rep and I discussed their Challenger and my hopes for a Big Boy and future steam. He promised the shield on the Challenger would be taken care of by production. I met Cory from Atlas, sort of like meeting a celebrity, but a humble one. We talked about his GP38-2 shells he was showing and did some comparison with competitor's offerings. He's using the same mechanism as the GP40 or GP38 they already have. Probably the nicest, and most interested, as in attentive, rep was the guy from PCM. He genuinely listened to me and asked a lot of really good questions regarding my opinions of my E7s and what I looked for in a model purchase. He did his job well and represented his company very professionally. They had a couple of E7s running and sounding on a figure eight and other E7s on display. I asked about the PA and E8 and he just smiled and said they're coming. You could just tell that he and his company want to be a player in this market and the first step is listening to customers I think. The gal at the FVM booth was quite pleasant and we talked about their caboose offerings and wheel sets. I hope they continue to grow. The Digitrax fellows were nice and even had a z-scale loco with DCC running that was interesting. The Micro-Trains booth had the next releases and some other cars on display and I chatted with the lady there a bit. I couldn't get close enough to the BLMA or the Walthers booth to talk to anybody, but Walthers had some locos on display and the guy was actually assembling a modular kit. The one disappointment was the Intermountain Railway booth. They had lots of products on display and about five factory guys standing there, but they just kept talking amongst themselves when I stepped up and didn't seem to want to make time for me. I had some questions and comments, but they were too busy. I suppose they were tired of meeting and greeting, although you could argue that was their job. Oh well, I'm still a customer of theirs. I work in Longmont, so I was kind of excited about meeting the local boys.

Carter Fritschle of the N Scale Vehicle Association had an excellent exhibit of vehicles and spent some time telling me about them. That was quite pleasant and informative. He had a very impressive array of trucks that I was coveting.

I love shopping at train shows and I have no self-control. I blew about a grand fast, quick and in a hurry. Of the vendors, TexNrails was the nicest, most helpful. I was delighted to find not only new releases, but new out-of-production stuff at great prices as well. The owner of SEK (South East Kansas) tried his best to help me, but he didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but he sure had a lot of good deals. I still regret not buying the Cornerstone Superior Paper Company from him... but I already bought mine on ebay recently. I walked through Wig-Wag, but only found one item to buy that I wanted. They had a nice selection and it was well organized. Debra is especially nice and very helpful. I don't think George likes me.

Thanks for the info. I've thought of starting with a 1/144 DC9 as it's a slightly smaller diameter fuselage but the cockpit and tail would require too much modification. I guess I'll need to get a Revelle 737 kit and add another project to the list.

The "section of a 737" is actually the 44 section of a 757. The 737 classic (-300, -400, -500) was always(?) built in Wichita in two sections that were put together in Renton and then wings attached. The 737 Nextgen (-600, -700, -800, and -900) was/is built whole in Wichita and shipped up on a modified 89' flatcar. The 757 upper was built in Wichita and shipped to Renton to be joined to the wing stub and wings prior to final assembly with Renton built 41 section (cockpit) and 46 section (tail section). The 737 and 757 fuselage diameters are identical. But I guess this is a train board so I'll digress. Again, very nice models.
