I wish the medical researchers could develop an anti-stupidity vaccine. There is no other hope to ever cure what we are seeing in those ads.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2353-LIONEL...254274?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item53f8e839c2 Hope I didn't do this one already. Must be the factory air still sealed in the cartons. They're not even 2343's. Almost fifty six hundred clams for one powered, one dummy set of F-3's. What would they have asked if they had never been removed from the master carton? The mind boggles.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Post...245097?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item35de346fa9 For only eighteen hundred smackeroonies you can have empty 2345 WP boxes to hide your 2345's in.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-212-...829275?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20dc691b5b Box only. Cardboard outer, in fact. 212T...with the "T" looking like it was done with a felt marker.......remember, box only......two grand. FAKES ARE READILY APPARENT BY THE SHAPE OF THE "T".
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-old-sto...779762?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item259755e8f2 Now, I've been around Lionel for over 60 years. Did repairs for a shop or two over the years. Ordered parts. I have to tell ya, never, ever seen a boiler or smokebox front from Lionel unpainted before. Fronts painted with lenses and class jewels. Boilers ordered painted with numbers on cab. Estate sale.....PO stripped the shell is my guess. NOT NOS from what I see. HUMOUR
I've done repairs as well. I don't recall any "undecorated" steam or other shells. If they exist(ed), I've missed them somewhere.
Here's a good comparison: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Cong...576759?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item5401732737 Engine only, five hundred bucks. I think I saw the cars listed separately for even more cash. Then there's this full set with 4 cars for $550. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-CONG...506087?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e939c3227
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...222138?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2a46f70c7a Seven hundred bucks for a single motor unit. Yeah, nice ones can go for a lot of money. This one still has the chain attached to the back where they tied it to the rear bumper of their Rabbit and dragged it around town. Paint is no longer "crisp"...probably hasn't been in 50 years. Then you get a professional repaint for five and a half. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnificien...els-2242-New-Haven-F3-AB-Boxed-/161478934174?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2242-new-ha...959302?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19f6cf3dc6 Powered and dummy....converted to a QSI reverse unit, speaker.....and two motors....needs a decal....$190
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Trai...196869?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2ed99947c5 Three grand. Six cars. The searchlight car has been modified with a later truck and coupler to connect to the knuckle equipped cars (half of them). Does have a ZW. Friend bought a 1666 of the Bait last year for forty bucks. ZW's can be had really nice for one and a quarter. 027 track and switches....usually pitched. Add it up, doesn't quite make three grand.
As I recall, the 250 watt ZW was only made for about one year? First of the ZW line? I wonder what condition the rollers, etc?
Nobody wanted a 250 when the 275 was available. Unless you are a collector and need one (in the box), folks want the 275.
