I noticed that there was a lack of this kind of thread for O Gauge/Scale stuff, so I figured, why not start one.

I have found three here that made me chuckle a bit.

The first is a lot of three 2625 Irvington Passenger Coaches.

I feel a slight over price on this one.

I see what you all think on this one
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUGE-LOT-OF...696336?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2c6cba1890

This one isn't really the price, but that title for the listing. Someone needs to do a tad more research

Wow. Lotta money for three Irvingtons.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-2625...173731?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d0919e4e3 for less than $70,
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-2625...725&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=1&sd=330865173731& currently at $74,
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-2625...725&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=2&sd=330865173731& currently at $46.

Second one, not one thing I can see needing in that pile of leftovers. If I had to take a guess, some shop that bought collections threw the garbage in the back room, heirs are cleaning up.
Third one, yeah, MPC made in the 50's is really super rare. Nice, clean transformers, though.
Nice chemical tank car in the tattered original box, right?

There is some interesting stuff. Of course we cannot tell much about that vital factor- condition, without a lot more photos, or an in person viewing. But it would appear to me there is a lot of post 1950's stuff there. And even some post-1960's...

9322 ATSF red hopper, about 1979.
6100 ON blue hopper, about 1982.
The track is interesting. Do you pay extra for the rust?
Something like that you throw into the shipment if they want it.
The 16262 green ATSF box is 1996-1997.
The pale green GN box, 9401, is 1978.
There's about 4 pieces I'd even think about, just to add colour to the pike. But the price is a little steep.
Hard to tell if some of the accessories are dust or wear. Like the icing station.
    One steam loco, two tenders.
    Odd.

I paid $20 bucks a piece for my Irvington and Madison cars. So I got both of mine for less than one of those. As for that last lot, for the postwar items, it is all common items, so they aren't pricey in the first place. So that much money of all of that stuff, with about half of the pieces being from the 70's and 80's, is not worth it.

I am not a huge expert on Marx, so I could be wrong on the price, but that definitely seems too much for a Marx engine.

In a slightly unrelated note, but it still relates to O. I personally would never pay this much for this. (I paid 50 cents for mine.)

Alright, well, I have found another load of good ones.

    1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-1950...554654?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item51a4a3e21e
    An overly priced Marx/Lionel Lot.

    2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...752748?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item257b51ddec
There is a number of items here, which are described as "most is new never used...hard to find and rare....can be sold for $80 or more a piece". I don't think so...

    3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-2553...862578?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2ec33a2232
Pretty pricey for an incomplete Postwar set with incorrect postwar and modern era substitutes.

    4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-of-a-kind...433750?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d09f37c16
You will get a kick out of this one.

    5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-6468...209260?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564950a4ac
A relatively scarce car, but with a large overprice.

    6. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...720941?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4170b407ed
I understand that it is Lionel HO, but it isn't worth that much. (I say this as I bought a complete, boxed Lionel HO set for $250).

    7. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-train-set-/261177208280?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3ccf5fedd8
I feel this is overpriced for what you are getting.

    8. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Lionel...631360?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4ac1d65e00
Once again, another pretty rare car, but it is still twice the price it should be in that condition.

    9. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pre-War-0-G...296704?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item5897f15180
    A tad pricey...

Definitely over priced. What am I seeing on that milk platform? A little blurred, but those don't quite look like barrels and certainly are not the milk cans.

Yeah, those are definitely barrels. They don't quite work with that....

    1) As Al Cox would have said, "usual bent cab roof". For what's there, 100-150, tops.
    2) With the water tank, 150-200. I don't see anything I would call rare. Gave two of those tanks away last week.
    3) That's a hard one. The condensor car has both brake wheels attached. Could be a chunk of change. Maybe 500.
    4) He would have to pay me to take that.
    5) No nicks, chips or blemishes (which this one has), with OB, saw one listed for 435. Maybe 150.
    6) Unless you collect this stuff, it's just plastic mass produced H0, 30.
    7) Nothing special. Nicked and chipped stuff. 175?
    8) Saw one for 260.
    9) Nice, some neat stuff. 200?

Yes but the listing said it was a modern era version, so I don't think it would be worth that much.

I just paid $7.95 shipping for an item that the seller sent to me for $4.50 .. and I knew it before hand.
Still rubs me the wrong way.
But, for example, some ask $12-16 for what I know is a $5 or less cost.
I realize that the post office is in dire straights - but still .....

Not just evilbait. I bought an old Half Zero power unit off a guy on an internet group.
    Eight bucks.
    $12.35 shipping.
Actual cost was less than half that.

For a book whose values are twenty years out of date, that's a good deal, Right?
I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's, folks trying to sell old TCA membership rosters for big bucks (for 20 years ago, anyway).
