Thanks. However, I was riding third world style hanging onto the car roof. NOT That was from my trip on some private varnish earlier this year. I was glued to the windows in the dome with my camera waiting for meets.
Last month I had to make my yearly trip to Oakland and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to get a couple of great shots of AMTK 590. One of two gen sets that amtrak owns. The other is located in LA. The yard crew were on the wye so I was able to get some close ups.
Darn it! Now I'm upset again that I had to fly home instead of being able to take the Zephyr a few weeks ago! (Derailment in Nebraska cancelled the entire route for a few days) Excellent photos Mike!
Pulled up to the Amtrak station in Glenwood Springs Colorado right at 5 pm and to my surprise, I caught the super late California Zephyr. UP loco on the front had me thinking locomotive problems, and talking with a guy that was on the train confirmed that. Almost 4 hours were spent sitting in Salt Lake while they tried to fix it to no avail. Only had my cell phone camera, so the pics didn't turn out so well :/ Mike
That decides it. My next layout is going to be a snow based layout. Excellent photo. I love riding the train any time. But I love riding the train through snowfall the most!
Especially when you can just relax with a hot cup of coffee and watcht he winter wonderland without being out in it!
Followed Amtrak #6 out of Grand Junction and up to De Beque this morning. Here it's crossing old Hwy 6. Wave at the Observation car!!! 2 special cars on the rear end today Thanks to Ben (bravogjt) for showing me this location =) -Mike
