4 days ago skipgear posted in this forum that the Athearn by-window cabeese have arrived.

I can't find them anywhere — especially at my usual on-line haunts! SO WHO'S GOT THEM??

    SP'ers really need to know!

    Rick,

If I told you where they are...by the time I could afford to buy my set...they'd be out of them.

I don't know where your haunts are but may I suggest the following:
Check with George, at Wig Wag, Mike at Fifers, Terry (oops brain fart) Tony aka Skipgear...for starters. Also, check those small out of the way LHS's. Sometimes they get a decent shipment in but aren't moving them as fast as they'd like.

I can't tell you my resource. I still owe monies to a fellow model rail and as soon as that's cleared up... then it's off to the hobby shop and I don't want you beating me to the punch... I said with a big grin.

I'm sure this isn't a one time run...but...you never know.

I don't know about our friend "Chuck" at Feather River, but you could check I had some pre-ordered and they arrived yesterday. WOW!!! I also got two MTL's I had pre-ordered and I am willing to trade even for two more Athean's if anyone is interested. Espee for Espee.
The Athearn bays are beautiful, well detailed and much better done then the MTL's. By the way, why couldn't MTL provide installed roof details? Seems like it's not that difficult judging by the Athearn's. Oh? Did I mention the window screens???? They seem to be missing from the MTL boxes. I checked all four very carefully.

    Sorry,
I'm no help, we sold through our SP's already. Down to a Conrail and two Chessie.

I was at Arnie's in Westminster, CA yesterday and they had two left. Based on the crowd looking at the one they took out of the box to show off, I think they have zero left.

Don't forget that Athearn has another release coming out in about February, with more SP bay window styles including Bicentennial schemed #1776.

There's also a Rock Island version. I may have to reserve one of those, too.

I checked Feather River this morning to see if he was listing the IM Santa Fe cabeese yet and the Athearn SP's were shown as sold out, I bet Athearn's already thinking second or third run.

Maybe they could do a separate run of the detail parts and window screens to sell to those with the MTL versions.:tb-biggrin:

Hmm, I can't find any either at all the online train stores I've ordered from. Guess I'll have to check more places. And even though I need about 10, I'd be luck to get 2 or 3.
To me, this is one of the BIG problems in N scale. I hate pre-ordering anything, but if I don't, then I lose out. :( frustrating....

Are we still in the reserve phase for the Athearn SP C40-8s and C40-7s? Thanks.

Yes Sir, mean as hell-o. LOL

Actually my secret is out. Somewhere in one of these threads is mention of two more sets. By now, it's more like...SOLD OUT! So, it wouldn't do much good to give them a check. They'd be gone.

YOU GOT THEM? Now that just isn't fair. Where'd you find them and don't tell me Busy Bee Hobbies, San Bernardino, Ca.? OOP's cat's out of the bag. There goes my reason for ....

Like my dog said, life is "rawf"!

Pay back can be a b........ a bit tough. I know I thought I was going say the same thing

    Tell ya what Rick,

Tomorrow I'm going to make an impulse trip down to the hobby shop here and see what he has. It seems like in the past, things haven't flown off his shelves like they do at other places. If he has one, I'll pick it up just for you. [IMG]

    I'm almost speechless. ahhh.....errr......I mean.....

Well Mark, really... I'm not sure what to say. I mean....Thank-you! I would appreciate that. Here's the thing I already owe Tom for an ABBA set of Kato locomotives. I need to be sure he is paid before I can make any additional purchases.

So, if you could hold it for me...errr...OK.

I sent you a private message.

    Wow!

Judging by your first response in this thread that is kind of what i assumed. I really cant afford one either, but I'm thinking by how fast these are selling, I might just need to get one regardless if I can still find one. I wouldn't mind holding onto it until you're ready, so long as it gets a a few laps around my layout. [IMG]

Let it lap around your layout....no problem.

    Again, Thank-you!
