    Hello all! [IMG]
While sitting around waiting for some glue to dry, i had an idea.
Since im very much into music, i thought what better touch to add to my layout than a local band giving a concert in a field or an out doors stage!
It would certainly be a challenge to make the instruments in N scale, but i think im up to it.
Has anyone else attempted such a thing?
i would need to buy a few figures for the audience, it'll be fun to set them all up!
I'm kinda worried on how i will get the musicians, im thinking about attempting to bend some figures into appropriate positions, any ideas about that would be very appreciated.

What era would this setting take place in?

Well, you're going to hate hearing this, but it would be a cinch in HO. I'm going to do somthing similar on my HO layout, but in a ballroom setting. I have a CD of The Andrews Sisters accompanied by the Glenn Miller Orchestra (one of the Chesterfield broadcasts) which will be semi-permanently installed under the ballroom. I already have the Prieser dancing couples and I think I can modify severalother sets of commercial figures to be dancing.

The era is going to be 80's to present. I think it might be funny to have an 80's glam rock band. but it'll probably just be some sort of rock band. I plan to make little guitars, a bass and some amplifiers tomorrow just out of some scrap.

    Sounds cool!

How about a guy smashing his guitar up, or kicking over the speakers...

...or a really tiny model of stonehenge!!!

A most excellent idea there Steve, party on dude! [IMG]

(Am I showing my age yet.....?) :D

Cool idea Steve! It shouldn't be too hard painting up some women figures and adding guitars and stuff. Now, is an 80's Glam band going to fit into your railroad's modeled era? [IMG] [IMG] Too funny! If not, it could be like the steam excursion trains we run on our modern era layouts! Now here's some helpful modeling tips: </font>
    • Glam rock was actually started in Britain in the 70's with a band called T-Rex. It was characterized by it's cross dressing, heavy make-up, and emphasis on the theatrics over music. It was campy too! David Bowie is considered to be a product of that scene. True Glam Rock never caught on in the U.S. but left it's mark on our Hair and Metal Bands of the 80's. Notable bands included Poison, KISS, Def Leppard, etc...but not "The wHO".</font>
Steve you must provide pictures of your results! It's an awesome idea! I like cthippo's idea of providing the music to accompany the band. Also Martyn, Spinal Tap is one of the greatest movies of all time, and reveals your sense of humor, not your age. Steve you MUST model the little Stonehenge !!

I know the Who aren't glam, but the mental image of musicians trashing instruments & amps brought them to mind.

Not being a glam fan (it ranks well below disco & rap on the Music I Hate list), I could see, perhaps, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, or ZZ Top.

For you country fans, how's about George (Strait or Jones, don't matter), Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, or Hank Williams (the elder, not Bocephus or Hank III).

You will need massive oversized speakers and flashing lights!
    How about a mosh pit?
Don't forget a tractor trailer or two for the equipment and a tour bus!
What about an empty stage and a crowd storming a bus or limo just arriving! LOL!

I'd go for my Main Man Willie, but ya have to paint a red white and blue bandana which would be hard to do in a small scale! And a pony tail and grey beard! Don't forget Bobbie on the 88's!

I might have to build several stages for all the bands i like, and just change them when the mood strikes.
I definately would love to have zz top, with their fuzzy guitars, big beards, and that zz top hot rod near by.
Also thinking of another band that i dont think that many people would know of, the dropkick murphys. They have a bag piper, anyone know of any n scale bagpipers available?

Its so hard to choose from all the good bands i like! But i have carved a little gibson SG out of a piece of scrap plastic, thats the sort of guitar that Angus Young used i believe. :D In my opinion the best looking guitar ever!
Ive written a small list of bands i want to try and model, ive been told that im being very silly by my girlfriend [IMG]
Ive narrowed down to, the ramones, bad religion, the misfits, zz top, ozzy, twisted sister and group x arabian rap sensations haha!. I like too many bands so i might just end up with a generic combination of all of them.
Im thinking that someone knocking over some speakers would be a pretty cool touch. and some other interesting bits that you have to look twice for, because theyre always fun.
i really should be asleep

WOW, I'ma lovin' this! I'm stuck on the 70's and 80's rock bands! My biggest addiction has to be Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne! :D But must say for those Aussie residers, I like AC/DC as well!

Guys, this would be an easy way to bring our real hobby, (Model Railroading) and music together! A moch up concert, thats out doors like New York City's "Madison Square Garden" :D And with it all, not real loud music playing being scaled down but still not real low either, but still you can mix the music and the model railroading together and have a good way of saying... "Yes, I got music playing, theirs a live concert going on over here!" :D [IMG]

Think of all the tiny motors or servos you would need to install under the dance floor to make all those n scale dancers gyrate around like the kids did in that era. :D

Dang if I weren't born on the other side of the Mason Dixon Line.

    Love me tender..........
    Love me caboose........
    Till the end of line........
