Never been there, but I seem to recall something about Birchwood. A RR owned equipment storage yard, outside of Anchorage?
I'd never heard of the place until I found that slide. But that would seem to make sense as that SW1 was scrapped the same year that photo was taken and the locos that surround it were also, by that point, living on borrowed time. Gonna be starting to go through that massive stack of prints that I bought back in March of '18, so many more gems have yet to follow.
