Hi, I have a lot of buldings from Lütke and must say that they are very easy to build. The quality of the milling is excellent. Lütke sells all the polystyrene parts that dont correspond to his high quality exigence as "surprise bags" on ebay, not on the normal market. No bended parts like the resin chewing gum, and very easy to glue, you just put some tape on the outer corners small glue inside and fold it together with best result. For painting the walls uniform, on large surfaces first paint normal with brush and directly after stamp with the head of brush before drying, so it looks very uniform and natural after. For small parts like window frames it is sometimes better to paint them appart on a piece of tape. You could stay at this moment on the wall some border under the frames free of painting. To paint accurate small surfaces after gluing, best to use some foam rubber on a woodstick as stamp.
Hi Armand, I just ordered my first Luetke kit from Rob, the petrol station. I look forward to getting it and assembling it. I model the 1950s and 1960s so I may modify it a bit to look less modern. It is nice to have more building options. John
Armand, These are great tips! I am working on the wine distributor and so far, love it! I can't wait to finish the kit. So far I have the walls painted and assembeled. I still have to finish the assembly and weather it. Rob
Rob, You should talk with Luetke about them offering some of their kits that have the ceramic tile roof (good for California and other Spanish Colonial areas in NA) with the standing seam metal roof that is on some of the other kits. Would make the kits fit in better for other areas of North America. Putting my Christmas list together now. ;-) Randy
Tonight I finished my first Luetke kit. It is the 73215 wine wholesalers. This was a great structure to build! The signs and barrels are included with the kit. I used a mix of paints, and techniques such as washes and dry brushing to bring out the details. The kit went together very nicely. The instructions are in German. I relied heavily on the illustrations which are fairly clear. All and all, this was a fun one to do! Rob
Holy cow, that looks awesome.. Is the base a real wood bark? Rob you need to post more of your creations.. Kim
Kim, Jeff, Thanks! The base is actually chipboard. I used rubber cement to attach the chipboard to a pice of foam. Eventually, the foam will be removed as I move the scene to my layout. The ground is a mixture of screened soil. I added differnt floocking materials to the scene. The tuffs are from Sillfor. The tree is from Woodland Scenics new premium line of trees. The truck is from Zund Meer. One thing I like about this kit is that it can easily be used in a North American setting. I built it for my German layout, but I can easily see this a US setting. Rob
Hi Rob, Thanks for sharing your kit with us. You did a super job and I can't wait to get my kits that I ordered. John
Looks great, and changing "Weingrosshandel" to "Old Bourbon" will position it right into US environment.
I think I will pick this one up next. But out here, in the Northwest, it would be a Henry Wienhard's brewery! John
I agree for brewery, The Luetke original copper pans are a little simple, but you can make them great looking with some brass wires and some bulls eye from ship models accessories. You can find from 3mm on, with glass and rivets.
We now have up and online the Luetke Modellbahn 2008 catalog. The catalog is a downloadable PDF file. It is 36 pages and shows Luetke's complete Z scale line. To obtain your copy, visit: Ztrack Center Rob
