We have them and they are shipping NOW!!! Ztrack Center is excited to announce the immediate availability of Tenshodo's D51 Mikados! The class D51 was built by the Japanese Government Railways and the Japanese National Railways between 1936 - 1951. A total of 1,115 of these locomotives were produced. No other Japanese locomotive was produced in such a quantity. The Tenshodo D51 features intricate detailing, sturdy injection molded construction, separately applied number boards, spoked wheels, tender pickup, window glazing and choice of couplers. Ztrack has six versions of the D51 in stock and ready to ship! Check out the full line at: Ztrack Center: Tenshodo Locomotives Rob Kluz
I highly recommend getting at least one of these locos to play with, even if you are one of those who think they are ugly! They run so well, and are priced so low, it's unbelievable! How can Z Scale's arguably BEST running steamer be the LOWEST PRICED steamer available? I think they really look cool too, so I have 7!
I have to agree with Robert. These little guys are great. Everyone should have at least one to just watch it run. And maybe another for bashing and experimenting. Dan S.
I agree also cool looking engines for sure. Hope to get to run mine at the GTE show in Portland this weekend and can't wait rich
These are tempting for sure. However, I really hate the look of the D51. But it has all the things I want in Z scale steam. Quite the conumdrum. So I sit and wonder... is Searails ever gonna come out with that new shell? Should I wait for that or buy this? Of course if I buy this, I'd have to modify it. Do I want to do that? I wish they had a north american version. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
From the photos on yahoos Nn3 group it looks like Republic Locomotive Works K27 kits can fit the mechanism, with some modification. I'm toying with the Idea of maybe using RLW's E.B.T. 2-8-2 boiler as a stating point to build a z scale steamer. Not sure if a Nn3 boiler will look right for Z but its worth a shot.
I looked over at RLW a few days ago, and the K27 shells are out of stock, or I would have picked one up myself. Is the EBT shell designed to fit the same Marklin mechanism?
The EBT shell uses a larger mechanism (Marklin 8827) than the K27s (Marklin 8896). The K27 kits seem to be out of stock, but the boiler and cab castings seem to be available separately according to their website. I think the Marklin 8827 is the mechanism that the Sea Rails 2-8-2 shell fits. Has anyone tried putting that shell on the Tenshodo mechanisms?
Okay Tenshodo fans... we have a little treat for you. Check out the free D51 Wallpaper at Ztrack Magazine John Cubbin put together this great design. Enjoy! Rob
TENSHODO D51 UPDATE The Tenshodo D51s have been selling fast. Ztrack is temporarily out of stock of the 81103 and 81104 standard version locomotives. We are taking reservations for these and expect a new shipment of both versions in the upcoming two weeks. Two new versions of the D51 will be released in the next month. Ztrack has already placed orders for these and will have announcements as soon as we have them in stock. Rob
Good news! The 81103 and 81104 standard version D51s are back in stock! We have processed back orders and are again taking orders for this very popular version. Rob
Just got mine, what a nice running engine still hard to believe $120. I don't model Japaneese but had to check it out. I'm sure a shell will be made to fit
