I'm having a little trouble with my new zephyr and two dz123's below is the email I sent digitrax support, I know I have trouble expressing myself sometimes but I think this is pretty easy to understand
    this was their reply

If they don't know who does? anyone have any ideas, I was thinking of going through each cv and setting it manually to see if that helps

    Botz:

i'd like to help you but I have a Lenz 100 system and don't know the in's and out's of the Zephyr.

If it were a Lenz product Debbie Ames would have guided you through the problem. She runs Lenz North America.

That's why I basically stayed away from Digitrax systems.... the support.

I don't even like to use their decoders unless I have to..... reason... warranty and support.

I hope one of the Digitrax guys can help you out.

Go the the Digitax Yahoo group.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Digitrax

They will help troubleshoot your issue.

The suggestion of trying a different decoder is not necessarily a bad one. I think they are just trying to keep you from sending the Zephyr in unless absolutely necessary, that's my guess. If you are unable to do that (i.e. you don't have any other decoders) then I guess it's a problem but otherwise it will save shipping costs.

To read a CV, you need to do the following with the loco on the programming track:
    </font>
    • Hit PROG key until the display reads PAGE</font>
    • Hit CV key</font>
    • Key in the number of the CV you want to check</font>
    • Press the CV Read key</font>
The CV value will be displayed. If you want to, you can immediately put in the new value by keying in what you want, then hitting CV Write button.

    Grace and peace, BD

I had a friend with a Zephyr that ended up being sent back to Digitrax for a similar reason. Out of the box, it would not read the programming on a decoder or change the address from the default of 03. We did everything imaginable in troubleshooting to no avail. When we contacted Digitrax via email with a detailed description of our troubleshooting steps and results, they had him send the unit in for repair. When he got it back (about three weeks later), it read and programmed decoders flawlessly.

Makes me wonder if there was a bad batch of Zephyrs shipped from the factory...

I am having similar issues with my Zephyr.

I have 2 Precision Craft T-1's with the LokSound that cannot be programed on the Program track. Spoke with a rep at WGH Train show the other weekend and was told that the programing track might not have enough power to program the LokSound and to program on the Main. Tried that and still could not change the Loco address. I am able to program other CV's but can't set Loco Addresses.

Was having a similar problem two other engins using Digitrax decoders. Unable to read / Program Loco Addresses (get "no responce" error) on the Program Track but can program other CV's. Same issue on the main with programing, can't change Loco Add but can other CV's.

Contacted Digitrax Tech support and was told to take them to Hobby shop where they were purchased. Of course they were able to program the engins with no issues. Took them home and still could not program fully. One of the T-1's shorted and reset to factory and is now FUBAR. Speed Curve changed, Sounds programed differently, Lost Sync of chufs ect.

Since Digitrax Tech support is so wonderful and seeing the turnaround time I am packing everything up to take to the Shop and see what their opinon is.

Just a quick comment, I had the same problem with two Digitrax DZ123PS decoders. They would only read 255 on just about every quary. I called Digitrax and they said to send them back as there were software problems with some runs of this decoder. I am waiting now for the New ones as they are back ordered.

I ended up pulling the two dz123 and replacing them with TCS mc2's they work fine, and I have a local source for them, plus I like the fact that they have the connector so if a decoder should fail you just unplug it instead of having to un solder it
