[IMG] Just wanted everyone to know that TNT'z is offering decals to cover those painted MTL 20' & 40' containers. Also will work great on all Marklin and FR (Harald Freudenreich) containers too.

Their are decals to renumber all of your MTL TTX yellow Gunderson Husky's. They have a total of 75 different numbers.

If interested, check out TNT'z website.

    Tim,
I think you could come out with a whole line of items for the well cars. How about photo etch replacement parts for the walkway and handrails. I for one need replacement, because they are so easy to fall off.
Also, why not include a decal for the whole TTX well car for us that want to repaint the whole car.

Excellent Idea! A decal set to cover an entire Husky! It is very do-able. I can do the TTX. Will probably be a few weeks before I can start the artwork for I am getting swamped with other requests to complete first.

Are their any other requests for decals to consider?

I have some unpainted FR Gunderson Huskey kits which I'm planning to color red for ATSF and SP. I also have some blue paint for CSX cars. UP cars are yellow like the TTX [IMG]

I would like decals for all of these :D

Several "New" container decals have been added to TNT'z website. Unfortunaely the images did not take when the website was updated. I will have to work on getting some images posted. The New decals are APL 20' & 40', Crowley 20' & 40', K-Line 20' & 40', and Crowley 40' refer.

APL 20' and 40' are intended for application on any brown 20' or 40' containers. Additional APL decals are being made for application on blue containers.

Crowley 20' and 40' are intended for application on any brown 20' or 40' containers.

K-Line 20' and 40' are intended for application on any 20' or 40' containers that have been airbrushed in an acrylic red. I have found POLLY Scale acrylic "Caboose Red" to be a very close match to the K-Line red color. Soon other decals will be made for red containers.

Crowley 40' Refer decals were intended for an FR (Harald Freudenreich) 40' refer container airbrushed in acrylic white.

Also, the Evergreen 40' Refer decal was intended for a white FR container also.

The P&O Nedlloyd 20' and 40' was intended for a container airbrushed in an acrylic gray. More container decals are being designed for gray containers.

Since MTL has yet to produce a solid red or gray container, you will have to airbrush a few extras you have. Like me, I have, or had, 28 silver 40', 28 brown 20', and 28 white 20' containers from the first TTX Gunderson Husky's alone. I can say that their will definitely be airbrushing of containers. Red, gray, orange, green, and a few others.

So, if you have a Z scale intermodal train and have a need for covering your plain painted MTL containers, or you want to airbrush a few MTL or Marklin or even an FR refer container, all of the container decals will fit on all Z scale containers.

    Check out:

    http://www.tnt-z.com

and go to the decals page.

All Container decals are $1.00 each and will cover one container. If you have ever used water slide decals before you will recall the decal manufacturers always arrange the decals on the page to conserve space and cram as many images and lettering with no specific layout in mind. TNT'z decals are printed in four sections as they look on the container. Two sections on the left depict the sides of the container while the two sections on the right depict the door and end of the container. The door decals are always printed on the bottom right side to eliminate any confusion. Simple easy layout.

    All feedback is welcomed!

Photos of the new decals on MTL containers have been uploaded to TNT'z website. All offered decals now have at least one photo showing the applied decals.

Note, the 40' refrigerated containers, with the Evergreen and Crowley decals, are from Harald Freudenreich in Germany. Uncle Will in Florida has a few extra packs of 5 containers. They are all un-painted and cost $17 plus shipping. I bought one pack from him and airbrushed them all white. Most refer containers on the rails are white or silver. I will be offering at least 3 more decals for refer containers in the future.

    Have a nice weekend!

[IMG] Decal artwork has been created for 20' and 40' P&O containers. This is the blue container with the white "P&O" lettering and the 4 color flag above it. It will be posted soon to the website.

With any luck, this weekend will allow me time to create and print at least 3 more variety of container decals. NYK, and probably Hanjin will be next.

I have to work on creating artwork for the new 53' decals for the SWIFT Intermodal containers. Looks like SWIFT is getting into the 53' container business. They look sharp. If I could figure out how to place an image in this posting from my computer, I would post them here for all to see.

Tim, I applied the decal to all my container, and they look great. No more naked containers.

    John,

Happy to hear your containers are not naked anymore. :D

How did you like the layout of the decals? Were they easy to apply?

Do you have any suggestions for improvements?

I cleaned up your C44 yesterday. The last of the paint is dried and is easily scraped off. I am almost finished. Looks outstanding! Soon I will be applying a primer coat. Will take photos of progress and email them to you.

    Have a great day!

Hey Tim, I was wondering what you used to take the paint off?

I was thinking of buying one of those Micro Mark bead blaster setups that are powered from a Shop-Vac, as I have 2 SD45's to strip that epoxy paint from.

That's why I offered up the trade of my Rio Grange SD45's in exchange for BN Sd45's as I did not want to have to putchase a bead blaster just for this project. But hey, SD45's worth $1200 bones deserve spending an extra C note for a blaster to do a good job.

Tim, I really like the way you have the decal layout., because one knows where the decal should go. No guessing. I am happy the stripping is finally over. I am sure the wait is worth it.

    Robert,

I tried several paint stripping methods.
*I tried the Brake Fluid thing. Nothing [IMG]
*I tried paint thinner. Nothing [IMG]
*I tried a Varnish, Lacquer, Shellac remover. Nothing [IMG]
*The only thing that seamed to work was:
Klean Strip - "Stripper" a Paint, Epoxy, Polyurethane stripper. I found it at Home Depot.

The bad thing about the stripper I used, it took around 6 months to nearly strip the whole shell. John has been waiting patiently for a good while.

The strange thing about stripping an AZL shell is that Harold Grady states he stripped one of his SD45's clean, in a few hours. He can't remember what he used or where he got it. He said maybe something he found at Sears.

    In conclusion:
Robert, you need to use something that strips an epoxy paint. Perhaps Sears sells something that is industrial strength. Perhaps the C44 I stripped had the paint mixed differently making it more resistant to strippers. An isolated case. Who knows!

    Have fun!

I saw a small Badger sand blaster at Hobbytown USA 2 days ago. About $50.00 for the setup. It looked enticing. If I had $50.00 to spare, I would have gotten it. I know I could use it every now and then.

    John,

Glad you like the container decal layout. Simplicity was the reason I created the artwork that way. It takes up alot of blank space on the sheet of decal paper, but I would rather make the application simple than have someone get confused and frustrated trying to decal their containers.

    Have a great day!!

Tim, what you really need to make is a decal for white containers, because most well cars come with white containers. My choice would be CSX. Just something to think about,

    White Containers!

You are correct. Unfortunately most white containers are logo'd in Railroad Names. Officially, I can not make these container decals for sale to anyone, but I can make them for my personal use.

In the coming months I hope to obtain the permission from BNSF to use all of their present and past logos. They charge no royalties for the use of their logos, but they do want to know that their logos are not being abused.

I am open to email conversations on this subject.

    Have a great day!
