The Royal Hudson needed an overhaul, and BC Rail decided that it wasn't worth it. It's now owned by the West Coast Railway Association in Squamish BC; they since overhauled it, and now it occasionally does an excursion. They're just finishing a new roundhouse for some of their collection, and I believe the Hudson will be stored there.

I still remember seeing it regularly during the summer months when it was in service, and hearing it's whistle from far off. The locals living along the tracks weren't so fond of it after awhile. It is very expensive real estate, and goodness knows we can't have that sort of racket rambling through our back gardens :)

    Count me in.
I would prefer to buy from people I have come to know on train sites.
It also bothers me to bid on trains that one of my new friends may be also be bidding on, we don't need to get in bidding wars with each other:eek:)

For the Beaver on the front look for a set of Steam decals for N-scale Mike Hudson or Pacific as the cab side hearald will work for the nose in Z. I know that CDS when they were in business made several sets of N-scale Steam dry transfers.

I think it's a great idea. I'm still very new to all this, and I find it troublesome to get some things locally at a reasonable price. I know the LHS's need to make a living, but I'm finding more of what I want through various online sources at a much more reasonable price (at least on this side of the border.) I've been successful at 2 epay auctions, but only received merchandise from one. As it turned out, it was from a very trusted online merchant who comes highly recommended on this board :) The other one left the item in the trunk of their car in the heat. Fortunately they were honorable, and returned my money promptly.

The other online merchants have been helpful, and I am soon to take delivery of some track, a couple of CP F7A's & a B unit (don't ask what I'm paying for the A's...they're coming from my side of the border...)

Even it means odds & sorts, like a single flex track, or a truck, or a coupler...like a garage sale? Something like that?

    Hi Garth,

Thanks for the suggestion; I have found a few places online, but I'm afraid even to do what I want would be WAY outside my abilities at this stage. Best I can do is supply the GP9 shell, unless of course someone wants to take a crack at it for me for a stipend? :)

I might take a crack at making the graphic myself; I have access to some color laser printers, and I have the software and the graphic to attempt it. We'll see how it goes over the coming months.

Meantime, a family vacation down the Oregon coast is occupying my time for the next couple of weeks...go figure, right in MTL's back yard. Don't think I'll be let off my leash long enough to steal away to Talent though. Then of course there's the evil move when I get home...
