I am surfing the internet, because there is nobody posting on z scale stuff, and look what I found. A decal company that makes z scale decals. Here is the link. http://www.scalerailgraphics.com/

Nice find, the only thing I can use for my CPR layout is the Graffiti, unless I start to incorporate some "Soo Line" Hmmmmmm.

Narrow geographic focus, you think? Reminds me of the jokes about Kalmbach...

Note that they even make decals for models that don't exist - for example, a Z scale GE 70-tonner.

In a way it's good to have some class II, and III boxcar on our layouts. I do plan on getting some Wisconsin Southern, Soo, and Milwaukee Road decals. I think the reason for the narrow geographic railroads is because of the copyright problems decal manufacturers are running into. Robert, you know first hand what kind of problems it is for a small guy when you want to do business with big corporations. Its not fun.

That's true. Just read over the licensing agreements for Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific, then you will find yourself thinking twice. Now if you were a larger company with several employees, and you did this for a living, then it would be just part of the program, but if you are doing it part time as a hobby, then the whole thing is for the birds. ;)

Wow! Nice find! :teeth: Can you say Milwaukee Road 40' "ribside" boxcars!?!? I read an article somewhere on how to scribe lines lengthwise to get an old "Ribside" boxcar. I'll have to find it and make a couple!

I think I remember Marty Coil from the N Scale forums saying he scribes the sides, then glues in pieces of brass wire to make the MILW cars.

In Z, just the scribing alone should work. Wilst on the subject, someone is selling Amtrak phase two decals for engines and Superliners for a couple bucks on Epay. Maybe use them on those Amtrak California cars to look like Superliners!:teeth:

When MTL release the CSX ribside boxcar I thought about repainting it into a Wisconsin Southern. We all know there is almost no short line in z scale. At first, I thought about chiseling of the logos, but I decided to use a 10 minute Pinesol , and scrub with a toothbrush. It work very well. Next, I have to apply the decals. Since the decals were not specifically design for the ridside, I cut each decal individually. Fortunatly, the rib count on the boxcar is jut right. Now I am thinking of doing a Southern ribside.

    Looking good, John!

I was just noting to myself today that every train I saw this week (about 3 to 5 trains a day while riding the train in for a conference in downtown DC) has between 1 and 5 shortline or fallen flag roadnames on cars in the consist. This is something that is pretty much wide open in Z scale still. This dealer that John got the WS decals from is the only one I know carrying shortline/regional decals in Z.

john, nice decals. nice repaint too. i am so tempted to buy one of these new cars, but i don't have that big of a layout (in progress) and i've got a few more cars to build. i will get a couple of the new plug door, as D&RGW had a good number of them.

... i'm still wondering what the new releases from MTL will be ????

but ... nice job on the box car!!
