roster? where did joe see a roster of mine? hhhmmmm. well, i have (D&RGW) unless otherwise noted: FT A-B i converted from MTL F units F7 A-B-B set (MTL) with 5 cars in 5-stripe scheme GP35 GP30 (kitbashed) GP40 (kitbashed) GP35 w/o dynamic brakes -- painted as rusty lease unit GP35 UP will start working on an SD45 shell (to cast??) from a GP35 shell. have two GP9s coming and will try for an SD9 when the GP9s are released. also have an SD70M (flared) coming to try to kitbash into a UP (Rio Grande) SD70Ace heritage unit (either that or only succeed in destroying a perfectly good shell ??!!) that's my loco roster. dave f. p.s. by the way i got a look at the UP (Rio Grande) heritage unit up-close and personal in pueblo, co last week. i also got to match a paint sample to it. Badger paint (unfortunately) D&RGW "gold" is pretty much right on. was impressed to find that UP had used Rio Grande's own yellow color (but then, why shouldn't they?). fyi. df
John, Hmm.....I see potential for black mail here. Wow, if your wife finds out the true cost of AZL you are dead meat! Can I have your collection? My soon to be wife did a trecherous deed last week. She bought a McKinnley Explorer set on Ebay in O scale no less. Now there is a good reason for Joe to keep peace in my house. If MTL would only do some ARR stuff, at least Karin and I could save arugments as to which RR will get to run on the tracks on a given day. Having O scale sit on the shelf is a wast of perfectly good Z dollars :O) Don't tell Karin I said that or I'll be dead meat......again. And David, I doubt me telling Joe you sent him a PM will impress him much. He has much bigger fish to fry than to listen to me......sigh :O) Loren
Loren, marriage is about give and take. I give. She takes. David, I am in no hurry, but I would love to get my hands on the Gp40.

Hey David: I would still offer to pay for two SD70M's for you to destory into two heriatige units, if i can have one of the victims when your done. Zya..... Tony B.... Wasatch Z Club
A-B-A M-T GN units, and a Marklin 2-8-2 w/vanderbuilt tender in GN being built. Oh, and every M-T GN car I can get my hands on!!:teeth:
i know how much you (as a Rio Grande fanatic) would want one (as much as i do!). but this is as much wishful thinking as possible doing. the chassis will have to be lengthened, but i've actually never even SEEN an AZL chassis to know if it can be lengthened (i dont' THINK it can be much different than lengthening an MTL unit -- but i still don't know yet). then there will be the carnage to the shell: it could easily end up looking like something done with a chainsaw. the decals are a whole other question (however, the nose logo from the Microscale Ski Train set in N should work just right). so "facsimile" is probably the better term for what may result. maybe if the cutting/fitting goes well enough i might consider doing a second one, which i would try to find someone to cast in resin; then there would be a few to go around (i know of at least two other SP/MoPac/CNW/WP fans who would be after me for one). so that would be the only way. i'll just have see how it goes. thanks for the very generous offer, though. i can't say more until i get there. dave f.
MTL GP9 SP Here you go. Robert Ray did the paint and markings, I weathered it a bit and ended up with a real beauty! Cheers Joe
Close the gaps Yeah Joe D. Tis a beaut, tis a beaut, but for crying out loud you guys at MTL go to some fantastic lengths to achieve protypical accuracy, but there is one glaring and I do mean glaring omission. Those gaping open pilots. Can't/will you guys address this. You have done it in N scale, can you do it in Z with an after market insert?
Well, I don't have a camera. I basically made it from scratch from Evergreen plastic shapes. I picked up a bag of there universal bits and pieces and just started hacking, gluing, and filing until I came up with the right look! I purchased the 3-axle trucks from Ztrak Magazine for there transformer well car to use on it, painted her flat black, and put some N-scale GN diesel decals. Looks ok for me!:teeth:
Gaps At first I thought you were talking about the gap between my ears!! I am trying to work in a Pilot plug for body mounts to go along with a new product I'm working on here. I'll keep you all posted. Cheers Joe MTl
