    Hello!

As I promised elsewhere, here is the thread about the STL files I have available for purchase at Cults 3D. These are the same Z scale models I've designed and printed myself. They're made for a filament printer, but they could be done on a resin printer.

(If anyone makes them on a resin printer, let me know the settings and such. I'd love to add that information to the listings.)

Here are the models I have available now:
    40' Steel Post-War Boxcar (like a PS-1)
40' Steel Pre-War Boxcar (like an AAR car)
40' Steel Double-Door Boxcar (postwar style)
    40' Double-Sheathed Boxcar
    40' Gondola
    2-Window Cupola Caboose
    65' Heavyweight Baggage Car
    65' Heavyweight Baggage/RPO Car

I have more designs ready to post next week. I have other designs to upload, and I'll be posting those through October. I'll see if I get everything I've made up by the end of the month. I'll post each time I have some new designs live.

Right now I'm not making any new designs. Money is tight so I can't afford filament or trucks. I do want to attempt to design more, and I would like to design at least some freight cars in N Scale.

If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for taking a look!

Here are the new designs that are available:

    65' Heavyweight Combine Car
    65' Heavyweight Coach
    65' Heavyweight Chair Car

I did get some money from a new source so I will be getting more filament. I'm not sure if I can design more Z scale cars right now. I am going to tinker with a couple N scale ideas.

I have uploaded a few of my Z streamlined passenger car designs. Some of them should go live later this week. I'll be uploading my other designs this month as promised.

I couldn't do something specific. It would have to be a generic bay window caboose. I'll keep the idea in mind, though I am concerned about supports for something with overhangs like a bay-window caboose. I'd like my designs to be easy to print, both for those new to 3D printing, and so that it's easy to build a fleet of cars from a single downloaded design. That means avoiding designs that might require supports to print. You have to be specific about what supports to use or the print will fail. When I have time I'll see what I can create and print.

Two more cars have gone live:

    50' Wood Baggage/Coach

    50' Wood Coach

I have another streamlined car ready, but I want to upload a couple of a designs along with it. I'll try to show those two new cars next week. I will have my next model railroad video going live on Sunday.

I don't have a printer or access to one. How much would you charge to print me 2 baywindow caboose. Thanks jt

I worry that if I make one model I'll have others asking me to make more. I can't afford to print more than what I make for myself. I'm also not sure I'd want to get into shipping. That's why I'm uploading and selling the designs. There's no filament cost to me and no cost or effort to ship products.

Check to see if there's a maker space near you. Some libraries are also putting in 3D printers. Once you have the design you can make as many as you can afford to have printed. That's the other reason why I'm uploading files. I want modelers to buy the files, then print as many cars as they want for their layouts.

I have three new cars available:

    Wood Baggage Car

    Center Cupola Caboose

    Four Window Caboose

I have one more design to post this year, then things will slow for a bit. Also, I decided to price all my designs at $3, so that means the passenger car designs now have a lower price.

    Have a great day!

I've created more collections and gave them brief descriptions at my Cults3D profile. The Harriman passenger cars I designed and printed are now up there as well. My plan is to post maybe a few more designs over the next couple of months, then see what I want to make next.

    Robert,
Forgive my inexperience, but can you grow a part with SLA that has been created for FDM?

    Scott,

That's a good question. You should have no trouble printing a file designed for filament printers on a resin printer. Any effort would come from determining whether or not you'd need supports. I've seen mixed views around the web about whether or not you should print resin flat on a build plate or print at an angle with supports under the model. The good thing would be that once you have a model, you can make as many prints as you want. You would use up some resin in testing, but if you get good prints you can post that information here. I can then add that to the descriptions at Cults so anyone printing my designs on a resin printer will know how to get good prints off their machines.

Thanks for asking. Feel free to ask anything else.

I wanted to update you on the designs I have at Cults 3D. Those few 70' heavyweight passenger cars are now there, along with the 70' streamlined head-end cars. I haven't posted the 70' streamlined coaches, but I'd be happy to if there's interest in them. Money's really tight right now so I can't design anything new and make test prints. Hopefully that will change soon. Thanks for all your support!

I realized a couple days ago that I hadn't posted at Cults the Santa Fe dining car that I'd designed and printed. I've fixed that.

    ATSF streamline dining car

I have a few more design ideas, so maybe I can get back to printing and making those designs available soon!

Sir, are you aware of anyone who has tried to print these in N scale?
