Bill, that's great news! Glad you are back on the payroll. Sign me up for the engineer for an hour program. I'll see Martin Hansen later this week on a trip to Sumpter, and ask him where he got his (mis) information. :teeth:
Bill- I will also say congratulations! I hope that all this other background noise is just that- noise. I wish the YW a prosperous tourist year, and I plan on coming up to ride. Thanks for your updates. Jeff Moore Elko, NV
Thanks Jeff, I'll look forward to meet you. Fitz, you will have to call the YWRR and make a reservation for the class(s). Also be advised that Mr. Hammond is rethinking the 'rent' amount for the steam. He is doing some costs assessment and he believes it is going to cost more than anticipated. I hope this does not change your mind. I'm a good teacher.
Just an update: The 19 was steamed up and taken for a 'shake-down' run on Saturday, the 27th. After a few minor adjustments, everything operated smoothly. We anticipate our opener for the season on the first of June. Now all we have to do is get the coaches ready for service .. they are in a sad state!
Bill, that's GREAT! How did you guys work that miracle? You must have worked round the clock to get everything back together so fast. The naysayers lose again! :w20z6q:
Jim .. we had a profesional crew, formally of the Mr. Rainier Scenic RR come down and threw things back together in a fast time, otherwise, the naysayers would have won. There's still some work to do .. mostly cosmetic stuff like steam cleaning, washing and painting to do. Should have that done by Wednesday (crossing my fingers).
Dear Bill, I know you are busy. Let me know when 19 has the big go ahead for Thursday. Any word on the SD9?
Burninbob, welcome aboard!!!! Yes, please let us know anything else on the SD9. I'd really like to know if it will be owned by the YW or a private owner letting YW use it.
The naysayers are at it again, over on Trainorders. http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?10,1170645,nodelay=1 This thread has some positive news in it in addition to the doubters. Jeff Moore Elko, NV
What I have heard is the SD9 is on the way and should be at Black Butte Junction this Friday and then on the way to the Yreka.
The SD-9 is privately owned and I don't know if it's on a lease or just a friendly load by it's owner. Some of the folks at Trainorders are way out of touch. We will be taking #19 out for a test run with all of the cars tomorrow, (1st) sometime in the moring. We plan to go all the way to Montague and back. Still have to clean, paint and shine the old girl up for the grand opening on Saturday, the 3rd.
