    Nice shot.

About 20 years ago, while on a railfan weekend in Jasper National Park, in Alberta, I ran into a black bear on the main, just a bit out west of town. I have the slide somewhere, but don't have any ability to scan slides.

    Regards

Saw some mule deer under a tree at Harriman, WY, while waiting for an eastbound UP freight to come by.

Also in Macon, GA, I shot a hawk that had swooped down on some prey and was covering it up with its wings, just a few feet from my car.

    Bambi on the house track

Saw this guy as he walked by my truck in Liberty, MO. The Spine Line is in the background.

I remember one day. When I was railfanning, and started hearing some Pica chattering away. I ended up scrambling along a rocky slope, chasing them instead of trains.

I see lots of ground hogs and rabbits while railfanning..
The meanest thing I ever ran across was a 3 foot timber rattler while railfanning CSX in Eastern Ky..It was sunning its self on some old ties. When it felt my presence it started rattling .Needless to say I left the area in warp 5 leaving the snake to it's ties and "railfan" spot.

I've kicked up a covey or two of doves in my time while out railfanning. That's about it.

Just today at work alone, I saw 7 deer, 4 turtles, 5 snakes, 1 pheasant (might be misspelled), 1 bald eagle and a fox. Didn't have my camera with me, dangit.

I saw a black Tail Deer right across the road from me as I was taking a picture of the Keddie Wye. I always see Hawks and such while out at Cajon and Tehachapi.

    From the other prospective....

While running down the main, we see wildlife all the time. To name a few, I've seen the following:
Bobcat, Mountain Lion, Badger, Deer, Railfans, Sheep, Skunk, Raccoon, "Jackalope," Coyote, Snakes, Desert Tortoise, and what else....

Oh, animals I've hit while running down the main:
Deer, Skunk, Snake(yes), Dogs, Coyote, Sheep, and a Cow. The Cow at 47 MPH at Cameron.

    Railroading has it's moments:bear-sad:
