Contradiction? OK, I am confused, PSG says Kapton tape breaths, Pray59 says it don't, am I missing something here? I have only purchased about 10 decoders, mostly Soundtraxx and NCE, but I cannot recall ever seeing any decoder come with Kapton tape. Next time I am at Caboose, I am going to check the decoder case and see what they have with Kapton wrapping. Soundtraxx uses what looks like PVC shrink wrap tubing to me. Joe
Litchfieldstation has Kapton for about $1/yard in various widths. Get some decoders to go along with it and get free shipping over $50.

Joe, N scale Digitrax drop in decoders have the kapton tape. N scale Digitrax hard wired decoders are in a shrink wrap. ( not kapton ) Some HO scale Digitrax drop in decoders have the kapton tape. HO scale Digitrax hard wired and 9-pin decoders are in a shrink wrap. ( not kapton ) When there is kapton tape, It's one piece for use during installation.
All N scale Digitrax drop-in decoders have Kapton tape wrapped around the decoder and foam in the packaging. Stay cool and run steam......
