Well after spending quite sometime get the track work as close to perfection as I possibly could, I can now shift focus to scenery and detailing. Wooopie!

The following are the very first step on unfamilar ground. by monday I will have better pics as well as more to show.

As skills progress, most likely, you'll be your own best critic. As many of us have done, finding yourself going back, and upgrading earlier areas of work.

The scenery looks great to me! The bush is airy instead of a lump, and the tree has great branching structure.

Thanks guys. I'm going out tomorrow morning with my camera to get some pictures. Then I'll be cutting and sculpting foam for the rest of the evening so by sunday I can begin the detail around the train halt(Rio Cobre Train Halt).

So, until Monday I'm out. Happy modeling.

Scenery is my favorite task. It's like fake gardening on a small scale. No weeding or lawn mowing, perhaps the opposite is the plan. [IMG]

I really like how your scenery is looking. You'll find youself keeping bags full of weeds you collect in your house.

I have done trees like yours. I found that if I got weeds and left the dry flower blossoms on them before adding ground foam, they looked more full. But I was going for that full midwestern tree look.

Also if you use coarse groundfoam and then do a layer of fine ground foam over that, it has a nice effect. I tend to use a mixture of all my tree styles so it doesn't get to looking to uniform.

Woodland Scenics also produces the ground foam for trees that has fibers in it so you have to stretch it out to get that open airy look that some trees have.

I'm jealous because you are at the stage I want to be at.

    Thanks traingeekboy.

Here some images from the weekend. I'm having fun with detailing my 4x8 layout as well as getting the hang of scenery application using woodland scenic products.

    Here are some photos.

I don't know how many people does this but I have a P42 running while I was laying the scenery.
