I put this away, half finished, years ago and recently dug it out to complete. It started out as a MDC (Athearn now) Old Time Wooden Caboose that I stretched. New sides (plastic) were then laminated on to the stretched body and the misc. details added. I tried to find a link to a proto photo for comparison, but came up empty. I was working from a photo in the May 2002 issue of Railfan & Railroad magazine, page 45. Maybe BoxcabE50 can comment on its prototype fidelity. I believe he is a closet MStL fan! The sound of gnashing teeth will be yours... In the grand tradition of Murphy: I just saw the new product announcements from Athearn/Roundhouse. Looks like this one is in the works... Yours looks good, and has that "personal touch".
(Sound of gnashing teeth) Really? Man, I thought I was safe with this one. So lets see, I probably have maybe $15 in materials and untold hours of eye straining labor invested in this thing. Retail on Athearns will be what, maybe $18 plus or minus a few bucks? Hey, I saved $3-$4! I am almost done with my Milwaukee Road Rib side Caboose (as seen in a previous thread), so I would imagine that FVM or somebody will be annoucing one shortly. I'm going back into the basement now!
