hi every one....i am sure this is a simple answer to my question. But i cant find any info on it. The question is... I picked up a few yard signals at a train show and they have 3 wires red green and black. i would like to hook them up but not sure how to wire it??? I am running two separate electrical units. 1 is for the track and engines. the other is for accesssories (ie lights and buildings) How do i hook these up and to what circut...but it three wires and just a little confused Thanks Dave.
Are they 2 color signals, red and green? If so, the black is the "common" for both colors. If you want a simple hook-up, the black goes to one side of the accessory circuit, the red and green could be hooked up to a single pole, double throw switch. Red and green go on each side, and a feed from the other side of the accessory circuit goes in the middle. Make sure your accessory circuit voltage doesn't exceed the voltage of the bulbs. If they're LEDs, someone else will have to chime in on this.
Hi Rick, Ok i really should look more closly at what i have....sorry LOL the signal has a green over red LED's. the wires coming out are blue, red and white. The white has a factory resisiter attached. so i am assuming it is set up to handle voltage. what i really want to do is hook the signals into my freight yard so when i throw my manual peco switches the open track is green and the closed track is red. i know there is a way to run it. i am not experienced enough to set that up. I will try to repost this on the electronics site as well. Thanks Dave
