[IMG] Well here it is. after 2hrs of trying to load this design I finally have it. This is about the one millionth design for the prototype Milwaukee Road, Portage wi. yard but I think it's one I can live with. Now it's your guy's turn to tear it up!! please let me know what you think. I would go into more detail but this is the third time I have typed this and my finger is getting tired. I will gladly answer any questions. Thanks

    Hey Andy-

I recall there was some conversation a while back- Is this your track plan for Portage?

Boxcab, This is what I came up with for the Portage yard. It's 14' long and 2' wide, double track main, HO scale. The right side comes through a tunnel in the wall and the left sneaks around the edge of a large doorway. It's about as close to prototype as I can get with the size I have to work with. Probably will leave out a few of the storage tracks to get a few of the industy buildings in. It will be a veiwable, storage staging yard complete with station, freight terminal and scenery. Sorry the picture is so big, it took me forever to just get it to that point.(me and computers don't get along) [IMG]

You may want to put more space between the double track at the curves.

Thanks Telegrapher, I already thought of that. since all track will be flex track I will adjust the spacing as I lay it down! [IMG]

    Ideas for you.
    1) Make the lead tracks into the ends of the yards longer. Looks like you will be blocking main line when trying to work the yard with a long string of cars.
    2) What is the run around track at the top for? Very short ends and both end lead to a switch back. How much room in the tail track at the end of run around? Looks like maybe space for an engine and a car or two.
    3) Awful crowded in the trackwork. Will you have room for the support buildings that are usually around a yard and industrial spurs?

Hey Greg, Feel free to use any part of it you want!! Mark, the basic plan was taken out of the magazine put out by the Milwaukee Road Historical Assocation. To make it exactly prototypical it would have to be 32'long and 6' wide. I just don't have the room! Most of the support buildings are to the bottom of the yard, but I needed the yard more than the buildings. I still will be able to get a few of the buildings on the yard side in. The top run around is a scale track. I have already shortened it and made the tail tracks longer.I'm trying to stay as prototypical as my room will allow. the total layout will be about 14' by 16' I posted a bench layout in this forum a few weeks ago. I'm also sorry the diagram came out so big but I'm just happy I got it on here. Thanks for your input!! [IMG]
