Was up in DeWitt,IA and saw an engine with UPY(661?) reporting marks on a frieght. Strange to see a yard engine running over the road. Wish I would have had my camera handy, but you know haw that goes. I'm thinking they were just moving it to a differnt location. Is it fairly common for UP to put Y's in a consist or did I just get lucky?

It would be common to see an engine being moved to a new location or being sent to get work done on it. It does not happen on a regular basis, but that is how it is moved, in with the power set.

I thought that's what was happening. When I saw it, my eyes did this, !!! Seems things like this always happen when you least expect it and you're not prepared. You guys don't know how many times I "learned" my lesson. Hopefully this doesn't happen too many more times!

Howdy from FtWorth Tx. I see UPU's leaving the yard on road freights ,and the power comes back, and UP GP/SD's working the yard.My thoughts are they use what they need to use to get the job done.At the Shops here anything can be used to move power to the ready tracks,SW's are keeped busy moving cars out of the hump yard over into the depatrue yard, even seen them leave and come back sevearl days later.I do not know what the Comapny says I am only saying what I see.
