I just asked this question in the Yahoo XTrkCad Group, but I have to wait for is to be approved, so I was wondering if anyone here would know. I’m tired of waiting for atlas code 55 curved turnout and I’m thinking about buying the Fast Track N, #8, 18/14R Curved Turnout Fixture . I just don’t know how to use the specs given or where to put them in XTrkCad curved turnout designer. Can someone explain the difference between Angle/Offset and the “Diverging Route Angle” as given in the Fast Track specs? I don't think you need to be an XtrkCad user to know this, you just have to know about turnout angle math which I don't.
Manual Solution Ok, I think I figured it out. I still don’t know how to use the Specs from Fast Track, so I printed out the template and measured out the angles and offsets. I then tested it by printing out a full scale turnout from XTrkCad and comparing them. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it came out close enough for me. I came up with 6.3” length, 29° Angle, and a 1.74 offset for the 14” Radius. And for the Outside I came up with 6.5” length, 22° Angle, and a 1.25 offset for the 18” Radius. Just in case someone might be interested. If anyone has any info on other Fast Track curved turnouts please share.:glasses-cool:
