The owner/operators of the Winter Valley Regional Railway have been working on this project for about six months and we're happy, and quite proud really, to share the railway with the world. Welcome to http://www.wvrr.ca/ There are thumbnails for lookers to click on as well as short, easy to read bits of text that discribe the scenes in a prototype way followed by a quick modelling note. The idea is to show off the railway of course but during an actual visit to our house guests soon get into the "how to's" and the "why's". I hope this virtual visit will feel the same way. Thanks to our children, Kathy and David, for doing the actual "work?" on these pages. Carol wanted to contribute as well but she's in the airforce and quite busy right now. Take a look. Enjoy. (Yes, I know there is an error on the map pages.)
Awesome, dave. My dad wants one of those...just as soon as he gets time and money!!! That sound must be nice...because taht is how it is supposed to be, kind of soft because the viewers are supposed to be a little distance off. Keep it up!
Dave, The website is excellent and of course your garden railway is something to be admired. One comment about your site is when you click on your pictures when you take the tour it opens a new browser so if you click on every pic then quite a number of pages are open. Is it possible that the picture would open in the frame on the same page? Other than that site site looks crisp, keeps us informed on your process.
It's a style thing Actually it's the way you have your screen set up. Good idea if your actually working with the site and want to swap/open pictures. On my computer I open each thumbnail and get a single full screen picture. I close the picture and go back to the text pages. Anyway, it's sort'a modelled after CN's site. Thanks for the suggestions and nice comments.
Dave, I was reading on your site that you are considering abandoning the Mountain division and the Prairie division expanded for heavier traffic? What are your plans? It seems such a shame to remove such a great garden layout
The "plans" on the maps page show the Interior Division now under construction in a 1200 sqft basement. This will be the main focus of operation for the next couple of years. When the majority of the landscaping is done at the new house I plan to run a single looong track that winds through the shrubbery in the back yard. One siding - no buildings. That will give me something to do on the Mountain Division but not so much that it takes all my time. Besides, nothing beats real sunshine on trains outside.
