Nah...sorry Boxcab...no depot shots...of anything WP...don't know why I didn't take any...guess my friend and I were too obsessed looking for covered wagons...then just relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.
The original order GP40's (1966) were delivered in orange/silver. The third order (1970) were delivered painted in the Green scheme with orange nose stripes (second unit in the above photo). The GP40-2's were delivered in Green and Orange 'new image' scheme (first unit in photo above).
Thanks Gary, would anybody have a picture of the silver / orange scheme as well as more of the green / orange versions?
I should have added the second order (3511-16) was delivered in orange/silver as well. Both these orders had the barrel headlights front and rear. When rebuilt by M-K in 1980 they lost the barrel lights and had nose headlights added, and painted in the new image scheme. There's some images here, though not the best. http://www5.pair.com/rattenne/WP/WPPages.htm
Paul I have a brass GP-35 is silver and orange if you like a picture of it I will post it here. It also has the Pyle barrel head lights. Shannon WP LIVES ATSF LIVES
I've been trying to find a photo of the rear paint scheme of the lead locomotive were they painted with a full orange rear, were they painted the green or were the tiger stripes on the rear. Also what colour green and orange paints? I know modelflex has WP orange but no green.
Paul, here's a shot I found on the Fallen Flags website. The second loco has WP's New Image paint. The whole end of the long hood is solid orange:
This kind of thread, and the Weekend Foto Fun reminds me that I really need to get my behind in gear and get some modeling done! I know Paul, that you will post in progress shots of your WP GP40. I'd really like to see how you handle the orange and silver scheme. I'm a bit nervous to even try that one!
A quick note, the first picture looks like an east bound train leaving Stockton CA. The over the track signal bridge in the background is why I believe it is Stockton. Greg
