The WP 918 in better days at Freemont California. This is the unit that I seemed to catch most often on the point when I was out chasing them. It was a good unit to work on too.

    Hello,

Very pretty, aren't they? I'm not a big fan of Perlman green, but it sure looks good on these F's.
I have a question about the picture. You were shooting UP at the engine, it looks like. Is he coming up a hill? Is that a river I see in the background?

Thanks for showing it. Don't hesitate to "waste" bandwidth on pictures like this one.

The train is the San Jose Turn. It went on duty in Stockton at noon. The location of the picture is Fremont CA. It is heading west and will make a set out. Then it will back up to Niles Jct and head down the wye to San Jose. For the picture, I was kneeling down and shooting up. Fremont is down grade when heading west. There is a creek running parallel to the yard, out of sight. I hope that answers your questions. :)

Just out of curiosity, (I don't intend to model any of the green F7's) did the B still have it's roof mounted backup light? That's one of the most distinctive things about the WP F7's, the lights taken from scrapped steam engines and applied to the B's as backup lights.

    Russell,

By the time the F's were painted green and orange, the F7b's were all gone. And as far as I know, none were ever painted green. I think the last b units were trade in fodder for the U23B's.
