Alco S-4 #563 is the latest piece of equipment to get a new paint job. WP 563 is one of two Alco switchers to get the green paint scheme in the early 70's. The crew who painted her should be proud of their work. Greg
I don't know if it runs yet or not. At one time, some time back it did run, for Foster Farms at Livingston CA, switching grain hoppers. Greg
That is absolutely fantastic!!!:thumbs_up: By the way, I don't suppose I could use your pic for my CCT roster. Oh and heres what she looked like before the paint:
John, You are welcome to use my picture for your CCT roster. I can forward you the original if you like. I have pictures of that engine at Foster Farms from years ago. I too am glad to see it wearing new paint. At least it will arrest any more rusting for a while. Seems to me that it wasn't that far from being runnable but we have so much to work on at the museum and so little time and money. Greg
Thanks Greg! I can just grab it from here. Got some shots at Foster Farms already on my roster if anyone is interested in checking them out.
WP went to the new image green and orange. Then the Borg took us over. But on the up side, UP has helped the FRRS retain an amazing collection of WP equipment. This being one of the last cars left from a fleet of 100. UP had one for the museum and it got in a wreck before reaching the museum, so we got this one. Another recent restoration job, by the same crew IIRC. Greg
