While we were on vacation in St. Louis in July, we came across this Penn Central boxcar. It is sooo ugly, I kind of like it! And I thought all the PC stuff was gone.
I think that after PC got out of the railroad business, they went into tagging, since they had already acquired the expertise.
looks like the rails have sunk 6 inches or so under than thing. Is it used as storage for the building behind it?
It appears to have been there for sometime. The other end of it has wooden doors attached so it is used for storage. I was surprised that the roofwalk and the brakewheel are still attached. I think I may have to model one of these!
Looks like the only rails, are those underneath. No longer connected to the outside world. It's been sitting for quite a while. I actually liked that green color on their cars. Is this an upcoming model project? Boxcab E50
Chuck, Did you find this boxcar just down the street from the riverboat casino.I think it is the one on the TRRA mainline just before you hit the elevated rail infront of the riverboat. We go by it when we deliver to the BNSF Lindenwood yards.
Ed- That's it! We were leaving the Arch and decided to just ride around a little and we found the boxcar and all of the elevated stuff. It appears to be minus the rails. Now that would make for some good modeling!
As a matter of fact, it is an upcoming project. I have ordered an undec MT boxcar so I can get started!
