To be fair, the penalty is not as harsh as under- or over- counting the number of "Chugga-Chugga"s that go before "Choo Choo."
Thanks for the video, MK. It’s got some good information. I’m looking forward to the return of woo woo woo.
still cracks me up that they filter to woo woo when we all know what is being discuss. Oh the games people play.
The filter changes more than just a reference to a hobby shop. Back in 2017 I posted several comparison photos of N scale vehicle models, and I used the common two letter abbreviation for the Mercedes-Benz models in the captions for the photos. The caption for the photo shown below originally had the two letter abbreviation for the E-Class in the center. A few years ago, I noticed the car in the middle had been changed to a woo woo woo E-Class. I was able to edit the caption and change it to a Mercedes-Benz E-Class. I even tried to post the original caption in this reply, but the filter still changes the brand of the car in the middle when it has the two letter abbreviation for Mercedes-Benz: "Wiking-VW-Beetle-Wiking-woo woo woo-E-Class-Busch-Audi-A4". Yup. As has been discussed, OVER AND OVER again, we have a very legitimate reason for what we are doing.
On the one hand it seems kinda silly to say “woo woo” when we all know who we are talking about but on the other hand, as Boxcab said, there is a legitimate reason for it so it’s a very small price to pay to have a forum to discuss and share our hobby so I’m good with substituting woo woo for the vendor’s name.
As Boxcab said, very legitimate and serious reason for it. For those that think it's silly, think of all the fun we would be missing out on if it wasn't that way.
One more thought, I do most of my hobby buying at train shows and my local train store. The only time I make hobby purchases online is when I can’t get what I need or want locally. If I have to buy online I first check out our advertisers to see if they have what I’m looking for to support them and to show appreciation for their support of TB.
.. Agree ! I always check with advertisers first. I do have a few non advertisers that I will use if the advertisers don't have what I'm looking for.
What would happen if the new owner of "You Know Woo" decided to become a TrainBoard advertiser/supporter?
Oh my. I wonder about the future of new color rail books, now often selling for $60 to $75 USD. I've been increasingly selective on my book purchases in the past decade, thankfully finding some excellent black and white softcover books along the way. So as to not mention the name, I find a good selection of new and used books at a railroad bookseller in Harrison, NY.
As of today, with customer past order history and All Aboard: The Model Railroad Reward Society points restored, woo woo woo is back in operation.
Well......in the continuing saga, I just got an e-mail letting me know an item I had requested was back in stock. It looked exactly like the old messages looked. So obviously all the old files got transfered (new owners knew of old requests).
