I recall him letting us know on trainboard maybe eight months ago that he had developed a very serious illness. I contacted him right away to express my concern and to offer him my good wishes. He seemed resigned to his early passing, as I understood his words, and stated that he wouldn't be around much longer. He went into a coma on Aug 02, 2012, and he slipped away two nights ago. He shared a lot of himself and his many talents over the years. May he rest in peace. Highball, Wolfgang. __________________
I'm very sorry to hear this news, and I will miss his insightful post here on TB. May he rest in peace and his family find peace in the fact that he is in a better place.
How sad. I missed his earlier comments about his illness. I always enjoyed seeing his photos. He will be missed.
He will be missed. He was a great asset on staff here and contributed greatly to the overall forum. Rest in peace Wolfgang.
What a great modeler. I sure will miss him. His posts here were special to me. He really had a great website, too. I sure learned a lot about Fremo from him and his ideas. Certainly Wolfgang will rest in peace for his wonderful sharing in this world.
Thank you Wolfgang for sharing your passion for Model Railroading. I have been enriched by you. Greg Amer The Industrial Lead gregamer.com
Sad news indeed. A fine modeler has been lost to us but his legacy will surely live on. So many of us have been inspired by him. Rest in peace, Wolfgang, and may all your signals be green.
Wolfgang was always a pleasure to deal with and an inspiration and a delight in his modeling. I will miss him. High greens all the way, my friend. We'll see you on down the line.
Not knowing he was ill , I visited his web site to exchange rail passes. Condolances will be left at his web site ...
I knew Wolfgang since my first participation at a FREMO US-Meeting in June 2001. He was not only an excellent modeler but also a settled, friendly character and always open for new ideas. N scale was not "his" gauge, but Wolfgang (left) participated at the first operation sessions ever held with "real" TWC at the FREMO during our annual meeting in 2005. My thoughts are with him and his family.
Oh No, what a terrible loss to the modeling community in general, and our TB family specifically. Godspeed Wolfgang.
He was ill for some time. Treatments had not helped. A super talented fellow, I was always amazed by how quickly he could turn out perfect custom fit turnouts. :crying:
I never had any corespondence with Wolfgang like may of you on here had. However, I did watch his videos and see pictures of his modeling and could tell he was an excellent modeler and his talent will be missed. My condolenses go out to him and his family. Hi Greens all the way Wolfgang! RIP
Peace to his family and friends. Wolfgang was not only a good modeler, he was a consistently good modeler. I have seen much of his work posted on this forum for a long time. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
Any of you less familiar with his work I encourage to visit his Westport Terminal site while it is still operational. http://www.westportterminal.de/wt.html Wolfgang was a dear person and one of my favorites to follow on-line. I can't claim to have not gotten a little watery this morning when reading this news.
I didn't interact with him much either but I was definitely a big fan of his work....very skilled and a great asset to the hobby.
Very sad news......my prayer are with his family. He will be missed on this forum and in the modeling community.
Sorry to hear that Wolfgang has departed. I too enjoyed his posts about his Westport Terminal RR. He will be missed by this forum & the model RR community. Rest in peace. I pray for his family & friends.
