For the new year I thought that I would list out what I would love to see by each manufacturer. Might be fun to see what others think. Kato: *Another run of C44s *A P32-40 Genesis like their n scale *A PA1 set like their n scale *An AC60W Atlas: *Something in STEAM!!!!! *An AC60W if not done by Kato Proto 2000 *A P32-40 on their E6 drive line would be awesome---they could sell as many as the could make. *Some U-boats and DASH 7s would be incredible from these guys. *Another run of PAs before Kato does it. *How about a 2-10-2 or an ATSF 4-8-4 Athearn: *AC44 in Genesis line would be very nice! *GP60m--probably on the way *Another run of the F59phi in West livery Rivarossi: JUst keep them coming---but ditch the need for traction tires. Well let's see your wish list for the new year.
Well, first I'd wish for M-O-N-E-Y!!!!!!!!!! Then, if I actually had the cash- Amongst the items I'm dreaming about, made with quality, faith to prototype, and affordable......... From Atlas: VO-1000 in Northern Pacific. From Deluxe Innovations: Another run of NP & Milw wood chip cars in new numbers. Another run of those beautiful NP box cars. From anyone manufacturing plastic diesel- Atlas, Kato, LL: U25-C Northern Pacific; U33-C Northern Pacific & Milwaukee Road. Milwaukee Road Little Joes & Box Cab motors. A plastic correct for NP wood caboose! I'd better stop here. Or this list will be one hundred miles long...... Boxcab E50
I would like to see: Life Like do a Challenger, since they know Malley's. Kato do a Pacific since they can do Mikes. Atlas do a U25C, and a U33C since they proved their Diesel prowess. Bachmann do a Mountain... Oh yeah! Model Power S*** or get off the pot! NJ International do automated N Scale Semaphores in brass. Classic Metal Works do 40's cars, more color schemes, and ship their police cars. Woodland Scenics update their ballast to finer heavier material. MicroTrains release automatic loco couplers ran from a DCC function. Microtrains enter the Passenger market with Heavyweights to scale! I don't ask for much..do I?
HMMMMMMMM 2 things! Rivarossi do a B&O EM-1 with 2 or 3 road numbers, hopefully one with "7600" on the cab! OR..... Proto 2000 do a B&O EM-1 with "7600" on the cab! Won't ask for anymore.... Because theirs alot out and on sale that I haven't had funds to nail to my roster yet so.. Or this list would be a mile long too!
Bachmann has a light mountain available, with a heavy coming out in spring from different roadnames. Both are DCC ready, and they will be offering a limited run of mountains equipped with a DCC sound decoder and speaker installed. I plan on getting the N&W model. They also are getting ready to ship their first 2-6-6-2s. Now, all I'll need is a 4-8-0 switcher from any of them, preferable LL Proto and I'll be pretty much set. From Atlas, since they have done the Ford Taurus thing, how about some transition period vehicles, some common to small rural towns. Trucks, station wagons, ramblers, mail vehicles, etc... How about some nice, fine-scale, code 83 or 70 track, turnouts, and crossovers that will be easily DCC ready, by a big company. I don't really like the Atlas points how they hinge, and I've heard bad stuff about Micro Engineering's turnouts not readily DCC compatible.
That 2-10-2 mentioned above sounds really good, but only if it were a B & O 'Big Six',and not an ATSF, which is probably what the writer wants. Rivarossi did do a Big Six way back in the late 60's and I have one ...but it's exactly what all the late 60's Rivarossis were like. EM-1...I wish! Probably just as well that it won't happen, I'm retired and can't afford one, if it ever gets made. All the best for 2003 / Mike
I want cabooses correct for the NP/SP&S/BN in plastic. Steel, tall offset cupolas, etc.... as built in the late 40s thru mid fifties at St Cloud. Also, a pair of Atlas C-424/C-425s in HO in SP&S. I have one coming, a custom paint job, but I need another one, since they were run in pairs. How about a kit for a WV caboose where you can build the side from modular panels with different window patterns inn them, so you can custom match any prototype?
Here comes the call now... HO Alco C363 lettered for the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Ry. YEAH!!!!!! ...not that I'm holding my breath or anything... Pat
A Frisco wide-vision caboose with the proper cupola window spacing (that is NOT brass) A GP40-2 with the 88" low nose, which also includes anticlimbers (the current releases have 81" noses) U30Bs, U30Cs and the like with scale-width hoods (pay attention, Athearn!) Some 50- and 54-foot pulpwood flatcars, similar to Atlas' 40-foot GSC car
GO PAT GO, GO PAT GO! I'll take a C-636 in SP&S any day. Actually, gimme two of them. Or maybe three... or four... or six....
Mike, I hear ya, I'd love to see Rivarossi or Proto make a EM-1 no matter what number as I could always put my own on it.... As for the 2-10-2's I have 2 of them, I run them as helpers as they were known to do on Sand Patch grade.... Only I have remotored both units with good can motors inside the boiler and not in the cabs like the old 60's motor was! And I'm going to detail the cab interior and all and add an engineer and firemen and headend brakman.... And all the controls etc... But the boilers and all have been since super detailed and I added directional lighting to it as well..... I did give thought to add a smoke generator to them too but haven't gave that to much thought so.... I don't know if I will or won't...
Let's see: From Atlas a hi-hood SD-45, with correct horns and bell colors From Kato, Atlas, Athearn or P2k how about some nice SD70macs. From Soundtraxx, how about some new sound decoders for the 3rd generation EMD's. As for me, more time to work on my layout
